Grandpa trump is too unwell and far gone to own a gun or drive a car.

Time to find him a good home where he can be confined with supervision and receive his medications only in the prescribed dosages and frequency.

The co-founder of Students for Trump has pleaded guilty to posing as a lawyer and scamming clients out of $46,000

Fits right in!

Bo's choice of words led me to think he was not giving credit to the GOP in any regard except ruthless adherence to a shithead.   By my reading,  the gist was that we should strive for that level of party unity and ability to hit hard and campaign hard, without emulating the moral depravity,  dishonesty,  corruption and so on.

Sort of like Sean Connery's famous bit about what sorts of weapons you bring to a fight.

That said,  unifying 'crats is like herding cats.

That’s because the Democrats aren’t made up of white people with a bunch of grievances against people of color.

The problem is that whenpush comes to shove the Democrats always forget how they’ve won. And it isn’t by kowtowing to some mythical middle.

Republicans play hardball.  Unions support the Dems, so they demonized unions as corrupt and anti-capitalist, and took measures to kneecap unions.  And even after they successfully did that, they turned around and attacked gov't unions.

Dem policy proposals and even cultural positions are more popular than those of the GOP.  So the Repubs attack voter turnout, kicking folks off voting roles, making it hard to register and vote (voter ID laws and such), reducing polling stations in minority areas, taking away voting rights from ex-cons, etc.  They do whatever they can to reduce voting as they know their positions aren't enough to win.

If Dems played hardball like the GOP, they'd target farm states and rural states and the South which vote GOP.  Cut back on farm subsidies, describing farmers as leeches demanding gov't handouts, etc.

Religious groups support and organize turnout for the GOP.  Treat them like the GOP did unions.  Go after their tax exempt status, especially for the groups who get into politics.  Publicize their hypocrisy, their scandals, the ways in which they support the rich and go against the teachings of that Nazareth guy.  Accelerate the downfall of religion, a retrograde institution blocking progress.

The Left also needs to build up a more concentrated network of think tanks and such to support those on the Left.  Etc.

I give the GOP credit for understanding how to wield power, how to win with minority views, how to attack and discredit their perceived enemies.

BREAKING: After mulling over supporting calls to summon Bolton to testify, Susan Collins (R-ME) says she feels “disrespected” by book’s use of two spaces after a period and withdraws her support.

Looks like Bolt's book undercuts the Rethug defense.   Now if they refuse to allow witnesses, it will be clearer the mockery of justice they're making.   Definitely needs to be one of the pitches in that hardball game Bo has mapped out.

Prospects looking better for Doc Evil this a.m.  Romney and Collins just said they'd vote to put Bolton on the stand.  Murkowski and Gardner might go along with that.  So, two down, two to go.  Gardner is in a state that's turning bluer by the day, and not just from the altitude.  I speculate that those Majority Forward ads are having some effect there.

Trump’s lawyers have claimed at his trial that “not a single witness” has “testified” to “any connection” between the aid and the investigations. This weasel language is telling: If it’s true that no witness has testified to this, it’s precisely because Trump blocked witnesses who could testify to it, such as Bolton and acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney.

We now know Bolton actually would testify to this, which illustrates that the only way to make that defense technically true is for Trump and GOP senators to prevent him from testifying. Thus, that defense has been reduced to smoldering wreckage.

I've been pretty impressed with Pelosi.  She knows how to get things done and how to leverage her position.

And Schiff is super-prepared.

Sondland testified that there was a connection, specifically mentioning a Q pro Q.   I think what the Trump defenders mean is no direct evidence of, as Sondland had to rely a bit on pretty clear inferences and slippery Rudy and such.

Well, I am sympathetic to the idea that you do not judge a lawyer by her clients. It dissuades the representation of the notorious and unpopular.
