Ifthey in fact were not invited, maybe it is because of this

A senior White House official slammed the Democrats for claiming they weren’t invited, asserting, “Democrats better check their emails and mailboxes before they make up a fake news story about not being invited.”

Criticized for not inviting even when they do.

Have a good day, all.

I will leave you with this - to even out-negative the moderator

Picture this as just a smaller scale crisis - with the real "pandemic" much worse.  Could be we get through this by summer.  Could be it takes til fall.    Then something even worse hits.

Shouldn't we be stockpiling for that day?  Shouldn't we be producing mass amounts of antiseptic and bandages - as the next crisis could be more invasive to the skin?     Just an example, but shouldn't the wise men that run this great nation have advance knowledge of this?  Aren't they capable?  I mean, really - they run drills, right?  How is it then we would initially be short of antiseptic and bandages were this to occur?

And you accused me of being a coward.

You are too fucking funny.

Grow up, please.

And you, too, are too fucking funny.

He calls me a coward and you tell me to grow up.

It's not as if you have the guts to answer the question, either, Mr. Chicken-breath!

False equivalence, but what else is new.

That was done without cooperation even from the GOP members who had supported it prior to McConnell's telling them to vote against it.

This bill passed 96-0 in the Senate.

But what else is new? Your snide comment about Acosta may be true, but the truth of this matter got by both you and the Red State folks.

Forty years the GOP has been selling the idea government doesn’t work for the people and government is more of a problem than a solution. When the Republicans are in power they do everything to prove that philosophy. Republicans can win elections but they don’t give a shit about governing.

They screw up, the Dems fix, they complain about the Dems doing too much for the poor and the coloreds, get back in power and fuck it all up again.

This time, while in the midst of their usual government bust out, a wild card got thrown into the mix in the form of a world wide pandemic.

So what is the GOP response?

Grandma and Grandpa Boomer should die for the sake of the economy. No need to privatize Social Security and Medicare!

Wait til the white folks in states without expanded Medicare start getting sick and discover the plan is for them to be Edward G. Robinson in “Soylent Green” and thenunderstand they got what they voted for.

This may go way beyond buyers remorse. By rights, the GOP should go the way of the Whigs.

China relaxed its restrictions on Wuhan.  People are allowed in to Wuhan but not out.  Wuhan people are now allowed out of their homes, but most everything remains closed for another 10 days.  So a few hundred Wuhanese  gathered on the bridge over the Yangtze River that leads to the next province.  And battled the police blocking the bridge.  Overturned a police van, and you can see an overturned -- likely police -- car next to that, another police car with its windows smashed.  Some folks bashing at police with a stolen police shield.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8162773/Chinas-coronavirus-epicentre-Wuhan-lifts-lockdown-travel-restrictions-time-two-months.html
So maybe it wasn't a great idea to let people go out when everything was still closed.

I think most Americans can't imagine the crowds and protests that occur in China on a near daily basis.  Often it's when a local gov't takes land from farmers in order to build some mega-project that will enrich themselves.  Or workers not getting paid.  Or somebody is killed in police custody and then the community erupts.  Or in Shanghai you get stock brokers who disappear with everyone's money.

It's not as orderly as people think.  China never is orderly.  That's for Japan.  I'm assuming that bridge mob is against crowd regulations in Wuhan.  Crowds form quickly in China, as there are lots of people and lots of people with little to do.
Any way a good 1 minute video if you've never seen Chinese fight the police.

You take them at their word when they have given no reason why anybody should believe them.

No evidence was provided. Schumer did not claim he was not invited, according to the story. Neither did Gillibrand.

Menendez said he wasn't, among others, but there is no claim in the story that he was.

Further, when Menendez isn't accepting an invitation, he says so quite loudly:
https://www.nj.com/politics/2019/01/trump-invited-menendez-to-the-white-house-menendez-said-no-way.html

So, if you want to use a Daily Caller story which says nothing about whether Menendez was invited or not to somehow bolster your pitiable position, go right ahead - but you have no evidence, no facts, and even your own link doesn't support your position.

OTOH, it is more effort than you usually go to to support such things.

So many interesting posts,  so much to absorb.   Stay well,  Larry.

Red,  have you actually read Reich,  or Fukuyama?  I doubt it.   Why engage?
A better question for you since you trying to equate Fukuyama with a partisan hack like Reich.

Kid, they should have been replenishing the supplies since 2009.

They should restock every time they take stuff out or stuff expires.

The "how is it then that we would initially be short..." is the question you've been giving us a hard time for asking! The Trump administration ran a drill in 2019, concluded that they were woefully under-equipped, and left it there.

So, yes, everything you say about preparedness is true and I am sure we would all agree with you, excpet perhaps Ward who will insist the government was prepared perfectly well and Trump deserves the 10 out of 10 he gave himself.

Helluva job, Brownie!

In other words, Barton, no, he hasn't. But he read the Wiki article on Fukuyama.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/28/us/nra-sues-california-over-gun-store-closures/index.html

The Russian-funded NRA wants us to believe that gun stores are essential businesses.

Suing Newsom and others for having shut them down (among others) is pretty sad.

This could take a while...

If every creep present at the signing ceremony caught a heavy dose and died an ugly death over the next few months we’d be left with a better government.
