The President is trying to destroy this nation.

The government’s cost-benefit analysis shows that even if the rollback lowers the cost of new cars — as the administration maintains it will — drivers will likely still lose money in the end by having to buy more gas.

And although President Trump has boasted that the new standards will spur economic growth, the administration’s forecasts aren’t remotely sunny. They project car companies could suffer a loss of thousands of jobs by making dirtier cars that would be locked out of many overseas markets.

Can't have everybody voting JUST ONCE or the GOP Dems would never win again.

More good innovation:
MIT Will Post Free Plans Online for an Emergency Ventilator That Can Be Built for $100

Basically taking the standard hand-pumped respiratory bag (Ambu bag) used until a respirator can be hooked up, and mechanizing the manual pump.
This could be a good emergency device if shortages hit.  Though it needs to work for a few weeks without missing a beat.

Thanks for the post

Depends on the case, I would think.  MORE patients need longer than average times on these ventilators during this crisis - true - but not all will be more than a week as treatment continues to be approved/improves.

GO, ENGINEERS!

You’re an idiot.

If the GOP doesn’t suppress votes they would never win.

DWC - driving while canine

Meanwhile, Trump apparently reads Wikipedia article where Seoul's altitude is given as 38 m.  Then...

The US president was responding indignantly to a question about coronavirus testing capacity from PBS NewsHour reporter Yamiche Alcindor, when he questioned her about her knowledge of Seoul.

"I know South Korea better than anybody," he said.

"It's a very tight - do you know how many people are in Seoul? Do you know how big the city of Seoul is? 38 million people. That's bigger than anything we have."

(Seoul is around 9 million,  BTW)

The CDC is said to be considering asking people to cover their face in public — but would reserve masks for medical workers

The only reason they're hedging and debating is because there is a shortage of masks.  That and changing their position makes them look bad/unreliable.

As I said over and over, masks are effective, everyone should be wearing a face mask in public.  And medical professionals were providing bad advice, lying to you and caviling because there was a mask shortage.

I think I've said it before but I've tried 3 different types of mask now and they all fit well and it's hard to figure out how someone could actually wear them improperly.  Unsurprisingly, surgical masks are well made, one-size-fits-all with their folds and offer very good protection (keeping germs both in and out).  The ones my friend gave me really fit snugly on the sides with no gaps.  Cough or breathe hard and it expands the mask and nothing noticeable escapes the sides (though probably small amounts do, but not forward for sure).

All the lockdowns and restrictive measures in place now should have been put in place circa March 1, when things were going viral slowly.  Hard to stress enough the stupidity of waiting until there are large outbreaks before you start isolating and distancing and such.  Time is important.  With the right policies in place weeks if not a month earlier, the US could have come through this with minimal cases (and gotten the life and the economy back to normal by May 1.  If the US Gov't and states got serious about it early.  The Italian outbreak should have been a huge wake up call and started implementation of serious measures in the US.  It was pretty obvious the US was going to get hit from two directions -- Asia and Europe.
Travel bans, temp checks, face masks, social distancing, voluntary lockdowns.  All should have commenced on or before March 1.  Some states just grudgingly going into safe mode for April's Fools.  Embarrassing.

Trump was shocked to see on a map that Seoul was so close to the border with North Korea.  That's what elicited his comment on moving Seoul.
Shows how well Trump knows South Korea ...

Quote
People forget, but the response to H1N1 flu in 2009 was also split along partisan lines — it was visible in vaccination rates. So was the response to Ebola in 2014. Conservative political and media elites were spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories then, too. It’s just that they weren’t in charge, so their ability to amplify their message and do real harm to public health was limited.

Now they are running things, spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories live on primetime TV every night, leading the US into a historic catastrophe

If NK attacked, 28 million people in Seoul could vanish! Just like that!

"The first three years of the Trump Administration were [/b]a perfect roadmap[/b] for what we need to do when this crisis is over.  Obama's 8 years are a perfect roadmap for what we shouldnt't do.  I think we can come back quickly."
