Ah, the noted thoracic surgeon chimes in, to disagree with the epidemiologists and the infectious disease specialists.

Dr. Oz, famous for having had proven that 60% of advice given on his TV show one year lacked scientific basis.

And YOU, Kid, have the nerve to complain when you are called an asshole.

Stop trotting this wannabe out. This is not his field and he shows it almost as much as Trump does every time he opens his mouth.

Your naysaying of Oz doesn't lessen his credibility - sorry.

Hard to lessen his zero credibility which he has done so much to piss away over the years.

(Intentionally bogus medical advice also unwelcome.)

(d) Coronavirus. The change in Biden's standing had nothing to do with anything Biden did other than say "Ebola, Obama." He went from nearly dead to a huge lead in four or five days because people believe thatJoe will be better able to handle the country's needs in this crisis than anybody available.

I don't think America(ns) thought the coronavirus was a big deal in early March when everybody dropped out and endorsed Biden.  I don't recall any candidate mentioning the China/Italy/Iran epidemics as a reason to support Joe.  Maybe they did in passing, I didn't touch back down in Shanghai until March 3.  But that was back when Trump was poo-poohing the whole epidemic concept and no one was overly worried about old folks dying in a nursing home in WA.

I remember it as being portrayed completely as a stop Bernie power move by the Dem establishment.

Milwaukee, the state’s largest city, opened just five of its 180 traditional polling places, forced to downsize after hundreds of poll workers stepped down because of health risks. The ensuing logjam forced voters to wait together in lines spanning several blocks in some cases. Many did not have facial coverings.

As of Tuesday night, Wisconsin reported more than 2,500 coronavirus infections and 92 related deaths — 49 of them in Milwaukee County, where the voting lines were longest.

Milwaukee is home to the state’s largest concentration of black voters, a community that has been hit harder than others during the pandemic. Reduced minority turnout would benefit Republicans in a series of state and local elections.

Quote
The unprecedented challenge created chaotic scenes across the state — and a variety of health risks for voters and the elected officials who fought to keep polls open.

They included Robin Vos, the Republican speaker of the state Assembly, who joined more than 2,500 National Guard troops dispatched to help staff voting stations. While many voters stranded in lines for more than an hour did not have any protective equipment, Vos donned a face mask, safety glasses, gloves and a full protective gown.

The asshole says it's safe to vote but wears 4 different forms of protective gear that most Milwaukee citizens either won't have access to or not be able to afford.  But it's all safe!

From wikipedia:
Quote
Robin J. Vos is an American Republican politician, the 75th Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly and a vile thug who cares nothing for the safety of his constituents.

Too bad no one beat him to a pulp and then spit on him.
Maybe that's why they needed the Nat'l Guard.

Leticia James, if you are listening, i hope you are able to find and publish where trump gets and puts his money. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.

Now we know what trump does with his executive time,

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5e8d0872c5b6e1a2e0fb7aeb

He’s holed up in the residence trying on cheerleader costumes.

He’s nearly figured out what to do with the pompoms after more than three years in public housing.

Because you cannot lessen past zero. Playing up miracle drugs without any scientific evidence to back it up is his metier.

KY McEnema sounds like a perfect choice for Trump, straight out of Fox News.

Trump's Never Wrong.
And that's all you need to know ...

Not surprising he makes his campaign spokesperson Press Secretary, since Trump always conflates governing with running for reelection.

Weird how Trump likes running for office much more than having the office. But one gets people adoring him and the other is actually work.

“We’ve known, literally forever, that diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity and asthma are disproportionally afflicting the minority populations, particularly the African Americans," Fauci said.

Sadly, not sure what the answer is here

Sadly Dr. Fauci misuses literally like many.

Isn't this a class issue?
That POOR people are disproportionately obese and unhealthy and eating poorly. And minorities tend to be disproportionately poor -- mainly due to hundreds of years of virulent efforts to ensure that they were poor and poorly educated and unable to compete with whites.  With the poorly educated imperative still baked into the system.

If you look at it from that perspective it's pretty easy to know what the answers are ...

Class issues are based in race.

Really we need a leftwing renaissance, and a leader who will move the pendulum back towards the Left, something Obama failed to (try to) do.  After Bernie's heart attack and Liz's forerunnerocity, it would have been best if Warren's people told Bernie that the Dem establishment was never going to let him win, that milquetoast Biden was going to go back to the Obama playbook of moderate compromising tool.  And if Liz and Bernie had joined forces with Liz declaring Bernie her Veep in waiting.  if the progressives had united, then Biden and the establishment wouldn't have been able to stop them, if Bernie's folks truly got on board.

Bernie possibly too crotchety and uncompromising to do that, but if his heart condition had laid him up longer and made him miss a month of campaigning, he might have been amenable.  The moderate Dem camp was weak, and the progressives needed to unite behind one candidate.  The op was there.

You keep ignoring the fact the Establishment progressives rail about is the base of the party.

Progressives dropped the ball in 2010 and have spent the last ten years blaming everyone but themselves.

Grifters gonna grift in this profit rich environment.

The company, Blue Flame Medical LLC, was formed Monday in Delaware, according to state records. Its website says it sells coronavirus testing kits, N95 respirator masks, “a wide selection” of personal protective equipment and other “hard to find medical supplies to beat the outbreak.”

Asked how he’d managed to procure such equipment when there are shortages in hospitals across the country, Gula said, “I have relationships with a lot of people.”

Long and good article about all of the Trump deficiencies and lack of leadership.

America has no federal response to this crisis
Trump is playing president on television instead of doing the job.
By Matthew Yglesias

I like Yglesias.   He wrote a good book on the housing affordability crisis in the US.

Also,  your earlier post on the What-if aspect of Warren having consolidated the Left vote... I'm not sure if that could happen in any parallel universe,  but I've had a nagging feeling that there was some fork in the road she missed.   Historical what-ifs are interesting sometimes... I was recently looking at the Spanish Flu outbreak,  in which Woodrow Wilson and a deputy secretary of the Navy named Franklin D.  Roosevelt both fell ill.   Sort of mindbending to imagine if either of them had died,  as the British PM,  Lloyd George, nearly did.   Someone noted that Boris Johnson,  now in the ICU,  is the same exact age as David Lloyd George was when he fell ill.

Class issues are based in race.

No.  Class issues are based in economics.

The GOP has largely successfully conflated race and class to prevent class consciousness and block measures that would assist the poor.
