San Francisco, which banned plastic shopping bags in 2007, now is also banning reusable bags and drink containers from stores and coffee shops.
Elsewhere Maine, New Hampshire, Illinois, Oregon,Massachusetts, have either have delayed bans on plastic bags, banned reusable bags, or both.  In New York a lawsuit has, temporarily at least, delayed  a ban on plastic bags.

In today's Wall Street Journal a story raised other areas where this pandemic has unintended consequences for
"Green" policies.
For years suburban "sprawl" has been a target of criticism.Instead it was advised to use pubic transportation and consider living instead in high density area with less room and need for cars.
You can’t have a car-free community without high-density housing, so environmentalists have promoted apartment living and a war on suburban “sprawl.” But now those living in dense apartment buildings risk their lives by walking out the door into common spaces and shared surfaces, even before they reach the crowded, densely populated streets below. Suburban families, by contrast, are often able to maintain community connections even while socially distancing and are more likely to have additional room for their children to roam while out of school.

Why has the administration ordered FEMA to terminate support for coronavirus testing sites?

The reason offered seems to be that fed sites were a temporary stop-gap until testing was transitioned to states.   Sounds like the Tea Party philosophy of feds either privatizing government functions or kicking them down to states is still driving a lot of chaos and sloughing off responsibility.   Since there is still a gap,  removing a stop-gap seems foolish right now.   Sometimes federal action makes sense,  like... in a pandemic.

Red,  hope you are okay with not eating.   Because putting all 7.3 billion people into sprawling suburbs will mean sacrificing a lot of arable land to the bulldozer.   And building separated houses for everyone might take down a lot of forests - you know,  those green areas that make oxygen and help reduce rapid warming.

I get that it is easy for you to confuse the forest for the trees.

It’s getting easier and easier to recognize that trump’s pandemic response is a lazy and ignorant man’s deliberate attempt at genocide.

Red,  I hope that course you're taking in Witty Banter offers a Pass/Fail option.   Your GPA at the Prussian Institute of Humor can't sink much lower.

Germany is going to widely test for COVID-19 antibodies to see what percentage of the public is now immune - the first country to do so.

If you can’t test you can’t get an accurate figure to track the spread?..

Keeps the raw numbers down.

MGM has been ordered to turn over unaired footage of The Apprentice.

The court case is about scams. Whyever would anybody think Trump was involved with scams?! After all, his (new) press sec'y says he never lies!

I only knew this woman in a “Hi, good to see you” manner because she was a greeter/clerk at the Giant because that was her job. But this hits close to home.
