Of course Bernie set the tenor of the debate for the Dems, and everyone shifted in his direction on health care, promising to get everybody covered.  Hardly a repudiation of Medicare for All, or the concept of getting all Americans insured.
And the virus has only further pushed health care to the TOP of everybody's agenda.

The US runs a middleman health system, where giant insurance companies spend a lot of money analyzing risk, acting as gatekeepers and reaping huge profits.  A huge waste, especially when you understand it's in their interest to deny coverage on the genuinely sick and to ration care, both for their customers and by denying others care.   Every developed country has a national system and spends far less for health care and often with better outcomes.  Cut out the middleman, reduce the paperwork, simplify the system, and save 1/2 a Trillion Dollars.  It is obvious.

But Red will continue to dig up out of context, free of nuance, GOP talking points.

It's hard to believe that people can be against everyone having health insurance and medical access.  But then we see with the Virus that many on the Right don't think we're all in this together.  That their rights and whims trump the collective good.  That they are willing to be selfish without concern how this might harm others.
If anything government run health insurance is dead for the foreseeable future thanks to the huge advantage private investment has in finding solutions. Big Pharma has over 100 existing drugs in various states of testing to battle covid -19, not to mention scores of other labs and firms working on a vaccine. We can only hope government stops borrowing Willy Nilly and drying up private lending and investing.

Why you think Big Pharma's investments means GRHI is dead is beyond me.

And likely beyond you, too.

Newt Gingrich, 2nd class science fiction writer, making his prognostications based on his long years of guesswork.

Soooo impressive.

We now have more cases per capita than Italy or Switzerland, having passed them today. We'll probably pass Switzerland in deaths per million in the next 24 to 48 hours. I doubt we will ever catch up to Italy - I sure as hell hope not!

Pharma company trying to undercut affordable pricing controls for CV19 treatment.   They had practice with HIV meds.   There is a balm in Gilead but it's for the rich.

J.P. Morgan downgraded Gilead Stock on Friday.
"Remdesivir has been a big sentiment boost for Gilead  (if not the entire market) and the company should be commended for its efforts in so quickly addressing this public health emergency, but we still feel it's unlikely to result in tangible long-term cash flows,"

Terrorists.

Deny it all you will, but threats of violence and other forms of intimidation to get the change you want is terrorism. Even when it doesn't work, let alone when it does.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_trump_job_approval-6179.html

The Gallup poll started on April 14th gathering its data. Of the six polls with start dates on April 24 or later, only one has it closer to even than "down 8" - and that one has a tie. The average of those six is -7.5. And even including it and the one before it in their current calculation, he's at -6.7.

But you see a ray of light and take it as far as you can, just like your Liar-in-Chief.

Not true.
Any government mandate for wearing a mask that results in a government citation, fine etc could face Constitutional challenges. The store owner can refuse to serve you if the mask order is the posted policy of the store.

Can't stop you from calling it what you want.

Nor do I care to change your mind.

shrug

You know the definition.

You know it fits.

You know if they were black, that is the term that would be used. And that they would be shot if they tried anything like this.

But WE know you would deny all of that and claim that the assertion of racism was nonsense.

"could face Constitutional challenges"

Sure. Anybody can file suit for anything they want.

No news there.

But given the general trend has been in favor of the anti-mask laws, unless direct harrassment has been shown, mask laws for the health of the public are also likely to survive quite handily in most places. Not always in the first level courts, but in higher courts.
