Former President Barack Obama on Friday said that the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic has been an “absolute chaotic disaster” and blamed it on a “selfish” and “tribal” mindset that has become operationalized in government.

“This election that’s coming up on every level is so important because what we’re going to be battling is not just a particular individual or a political party. What we’re fighting against is these long-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy — that has become a stronger impulse in American life"

knew he couldn't stay presidential

BTW, this was said on a private phone call.

You could argue it was said in order to be leaked.  But you would have no proof of that.

And not that I personally care.  He should be saying these things publicly on a daily basis.  If Trump is going to lie and misinform about the actions taken by the previous administration in order to excuse his own incompetence, the previous administration has a right to respond.

Trumpists always want the other side to unilaterally disarm on the rhetoric, because they can't take the heat when its directed at them.  Fucking snowflakes.

The Right's outrage about Obama speaking the truth as he sees it, as not becoming of a president, while the current office holder blatently lies, ignores facts, distorts the truth, and attacks whomever he chooses, is the definition of hypocrisy.

Obama should continue to speak the truth, as truth in massive quantities, given daily and around the clock, is the real disinfectant this country needs.

I’d be very surprised if Obama ever gets into any position to be asked about the January 5th, 2017 Oval Office meeting  with Biden and other key officials from Justice and the FBI.
It was there that he laid out a road map on how to proceed with the Russian Hoax.

Obama probably drank too much ice tea and had to use the bathroom frequently and missed that ...

Don't forget Trump kept himself in politics by pushing the birther conspiracy for years. A racist dog whistle that the black guy in the Oval office wasn't a real American.   So if Obama can ding Trump, he should.  Especially if he only does it using the truth.

It'd be great if during the campaign Obama goes on some news interview program and just answers what he is asked and trashes Trump along the way.

I'm angry again.
Fuck Trump he doesn't deserve any respect.
Serve him right if he gets the virus.
Asshole can't even wear a mask.

It’s a very thorough hoax, this trump Russia thing.

The signature looks just like the one on the memo of all those trump “mea culpa” checks that got sent recently from treasury.

She added: “While Democrats encouraged mass gatherings, President Trump was deploying PPE, ventilators, and testing across the country.”

Obama has generally kept a low profile on current political events, even when Trump would disparage him or his administration on Twitter. But Friday’s call indicates that he’ll be playing an active role in the coming election. He told supporters that he would be “spending as much time as necessary and campaigning as hard as I can for Joe Biden.”

Everybody demanding Obama step up best be ready to have his back.

America failed the first time out.

After the Zimmerman verdict white folks who had voted for Obama totally abandoned him after they had partially turned on him after he spoke up for Prof. Henry Gates.

https://www.cnn.com/2013/07/15/opinion/thernstrom-trayvon-martin-obama/index.html

I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this,” Obama told reporters that day. He said his first thoughts were with the Martin family, and also that he was thinking of his own kids. Obama paused often, and spoke in careful, measured words. Then he ventured out. “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” he said. Obama would reiterate this sentiment in a speech more than a year later, shortly after Zimmerman was tried and acquitted. “Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago.”

Before Obama said these words, the conservative press had joined in the condemnation of Zimmerman: Now they seemed to rise in his defense. The issue had been a unifying one—a then-28-year-old man had shot someone who was barely more than a boy, and who was also unarmed, but had not been forced to answer questions in court. Now the issue was partisan.

This is old and I didn’t write the headline but:

Barack Obama called a cop stupid in July 2009 and lost white support for the rest of his presidency. For weeks the right wing howled, the progressives snorted and the moderate Dems capitulated. Instead of flexing their majority muscle in the Senate, the Democrats in charge of moving the Affordable Care Act (ACA) legislation kept making concessions to the Republicans who were never ever gonna vote for it or for ANY legislation proposed by Obama.

While the Dems wrung their hands about “reaching across the aisle,” the Republican donor base ginned up the AstroTurf roots of the Tea Party, which laid the groundwork for Donald Trump with, “I want my country back!”

So, yeah. You know Obama is eager to bitch slap that orange motherfucker. But is America ready?

You’ll get your wish.
