Seems pretty obvious and basic that a face mask offers protection against a respiratory virus.  Just a common sense safety measure.  One that can help stop the chain of transmissions and allow the economy to restart sooner.

Pretty ridiculous that Trump refuses to wear a mask, even around nonagenarian WWII vets, even at a face mask factory, even after he's had at least 3 incidents where he was near infected people (Maralago, the CPAC Convention and the recent West Wing outbreak).  Plus there's Pence maskless at the Mayo Clinic.  So much for setting an example.  Of course, Trump lives in a privileged world where he gets tested everyday as do most of his co-workers.  However they still couldn't keep the virus out of the West Wing.

Yet somehow it's safe for average Americans to go back to their workplace.

After mostly half measures and fairly brief lockdowns, I can't imagine reopening the economy won't result in more outbreaks and more deaths.  Listen to the experts.  Epidemiologists actually study this for a living and know a good deal about such things.  We already know how to control and limit and stop this virus.  It's just a matter of implementation and compliance.

So you favor facemasks,  Bo?

Thanks for clarifying that.

As the confirmed U.S. death toll surpassed 85,000, one of the world’s oldest and best-known medical journals slammed President Trump’s “inconsistent and incoherent national response” to the novel coronavirus pandemic and accused the administration of relegating the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to a “nominal” role.

The Lancet’s unsigned editorial concluded that Trump should be replaced. “Americans must put a president in the White House come January, 2021, who will understand that public health should not be guided by partisan politics,” said the journal, which was founded in Britain in 1823.

Meanwhile, as the FBI is transformed into Trump's hit squad (e. g. Sen.  Burr) we continue to creep towards fascism.   Five and a half months,  I hope we survive.

I think Burr earned the FBI visit, even as he is not alone.

That doesn't make it other than a Trumpian application.

Burr is getting what is coming to him. Though why Loeffler isn't also is... interesting.

And that is what makes it seem Trumpian - the lack of even-handed application of law enforcement. Perhaps hers is still brewing?

These fuckers are nothing if not hypocritical and ultra-partisan.

Biden and the DEMS need to make a string case for not just Biden and removing Trump, but for the need for a DEM Senate.

And it is hardly just this point in time or these issues. From investigations (COVID-19 or Puerto Rico vs. Benghazi, for one example) to Supreme Court seats to disaster aid, every decision is "Does it benefit me? Does it enhance either my re-election chances or my wealthy friends?"

I said the same thing about Hillary needing to make the case for a Dem Senate, and she only pivoted to that effort slightly in the last 2 or 3 weeks of the campaign.

Need to talk about the corruption and conspiracy theorizing and disbelief in science as being dangerous and harmful.

And how the GOP Senate intentionally hamstrung Obama and the US recovery from the Bush Depression.  And we don't want a replay of that muck, while the next Dem president has to dig out form the Trump Disaster.

The false negatives on the Abbott rapid response COVID-19 test are a bigger problem than the public wants to know.

Or the Trump administration, for that matter.

Wow.  Joe isn't playing:

Joe Biden commits on @MSNBC to not pardon Donald Trump. "Absolutely, yes. I commit," he says.

He adds later, “We never saw anything like the prostitution of that office like we see today.

I think people, myself included, are underestimating Joe's bite.  And now with Trump shouting "Obamagate" and McConnell misrepresenting the record (however he backpedals) and telling the former President of the United States to "shut his mouth" Donald is picking a fight that he isn't going to want.

They can’t say, “shut up, boy” to Biden as they did with Obama because you know, like LBJ said, lowest white man and all that.

Burr was a burr under Trump’s saddle as Chair of Senate Intelligence.

“Donald J. Trump’s incessant drum beating has reached enough disenfranchised fools with guns seeking liberation from frustrations they can’t otherwise escape. In their own bizarre way, the raging boys and girls with guns are just another cruel manifestation of Mother Nature’s punishing game.

Novel coronavirus protesters with their military-style mowing machines and attitudes are suddenly showing up around the country to demonstrate their resolve to reopen America by force of arms. Their sentiment is understandable, their motives are arguably noble, and their reasoning, if any applies, is flawed. Not even revisionist history is on their side.”

Say what Joe?

From MSNBC

Former Vice President Joe Biden, after again emphatically denying the claim of a former staffer that he sexually assaulted her nearly three decades ago, acknowledged for the first time Thursday the dilemma now facing some potential supporters in November, saying: “They should vote with their heart.”

“If they believe Tara Reade, they probably shouldn’t vote for me. I wouldn’t vote for me if I believed Tara Reade,” Biden told Lawrence O’Donnell during an extended interview Thursday on MSNBC.

Really Joe?

One-third of Democratic voters believe the sexual harassment, assault allegations against Joe Biden, a new Hill-HarrisX survey finds.
Thirty-four percent of Democrats in the May 11-12 poll believe the harassment claims made by former Senate staffer, Tara Reade, and 30 percent believe the sexual assault accusations...

According to a Monmouth Poll last week:

The electorate is divided on the validity of thisallegation – 37% say it is probably true, 32% say it is probably not true, and 31% have no opinion.
Opinion on this question breaks sharply along partisan lines. More Republicans say the allegation is probably true (50%) than not true (17%) while more Democrats say is it is probably not true (55%) than true (20%). Independents are more likely to feel that the allegation is true (43%) rather than not true (22%), while 35% have no opinion either way. Overall, men (39% true and 29% not true) are slightly more likely than women (35% true and 34% not true) to believe the charge against Biden.

If voters take Joe at his word he is not looking too good.

They shouldn't vote for Trump, either. The problem is that some Democrats perceive it as a problem if a candidate sexually assaulted a woman (or 20 of them).

Very few of your fellow GOP voters feel the same way. Ditto racism.
