A beach in Virginia today. Note that the beach is still officially closed.

“This was the genius of Obamagate! President Obama knew that Donald Trump was his greatest political rival, even though he was not running against Donald Trump (and could not) and Donald Trump was technically his successor, not his rival (Obamagate did not account for this) and so, deviously, he handed power peacefully over to Donald Trump in the routine way. We are not sure if this is part of Obamagate, but we think it must be, that Obama also prepared a pandemic exercise for the incoming Trump team, but cleverly organized it so that nobody who would remain in the Trump administration would pay attention and no one who was paying attention would remain in the Trump administration.”

.
Unfortunately for all Americans, Donald Trump had no experience as a politician before he became the top politician in the country. He had no experience in the give and take realities of the political world. Instead he simply tried to run the country using his business model (the only model that matters to him, the only model he has ever known--the Trump is Right model). Everyone can see how well that has worked out. He doesn’t seem to understand that on the big stage of the presidency of the United States that all those little scams and dirty tricks that used to fly in the world of New York real estate are not going to go unnoticed. And none of them are going to solve the problems we are faced with. You just can’t survive as a two-bit lier when you are tasked with leadership of the free world. Too obvious. Too many people notice….even if his MAGAs are still just blindly following him around.

Trump has a knack for publicity and self-promotion.
Has a terrible chaotic management style.
Doesn't have many people he trusts -- mostly Jared and a general here and there.
Trumps worries about appearances and wants people who look the part (generals mostly -- he reportedly was opposed to hiring Bolton for a while die to his mustache).
Trump trusts his own instincts over experts.
And likes everything to be about Trump.

It's a highly idiosyncratic and stupid approach to the Presidency and life.

As for business acumen:
3 bankruptcies.
lost money owning a casino
fond of stiffing contractors
US banks stopped loaning to Trump
Ran a fraud/scam "university"

Mental illness is hereditary in that family. It’s probably on the same allele as the gross stupidity and evil nature.

I knew Harvey from Hampton would be on this call. He’s been a conservative darling since he became president when I was a sophomore.

That was Spring of 1978.
