Conservative writer Bill Kristol...

Quote
....
I have been surprised by the total capitulation to Trump. I never liked the, "Well, in private, they say this." I mean, at some point, that is not an excuse; it’s almost meaningless. People’s behavior in public, if you’re a public official, is your behavior. It really came to a head on impeachment, where we fought hard trying to get Republicans to do the right thing and failed entirely, except for Romney. I think that brought home to me, and should have brought home to everyone, that Republican members of Congress should get zero credit for saying things in private that they’re not willing to say in public. At least the true believers believe it, right? I mean, is going along really a more admirable stance? Is being a cynical apparatchik better than being a true believer?

But, yeah, I guess I am a little depressed by the failure of civic and political courage in standing up to Trump. We're not back in Germany. We're not in the Soviet Union. We're not even in Hungary, in Venezuela. I mean, what are you really putting on the line?

US lockdown protests may have spread virus widely

This is part of the further penetration of the science denial virus into the right wing.   Science is wrong.   CV19 is not really a severe respiratory illness that's much more lethal than flu and able to cause other organ damage even in younger people - no,  it's really just the common cold!   Scientists have all been co-opted by a sinister socialist conspiracy.

Science?  It's clear these people didn't pray hard enough.

God heard the prayers that followed all the mass shootings and said "Well,  folks,  the only way to decrease mass shootings in gun-crazy America is for me to unleash a virus that gets most people to stay at home or at least avoid large gatherings.  Temporary, I know, but I'm kind of busy right now and, to be honest,  I don't have real great ideas.   I mean,  you've seen the human spine and knee joint, right?"

That "thoughts and prayers" thing -  there's very little of the former.   And the latter is mostly Let's not bother and we'll just say we did...

If the numbers work out anywhere near this, it is going to lead to some major changes, nationally --> and I don't think we have the foggiest what they are going to be.

Where is this from, Barton?  It is not in the linked piece.

Italics do not mean only a quotation.   I was using them to indicate my interpretation of a mindset.   When I quote,  I use quotation marks or a quote box.   And cite the source.

It’s good we’ll have a vaccine available by Christmas, if things go exceptionally well.

If the vaccine gets out to the American people, that will be a sure sign that trump is no longer in charge and Biden is running the country.

With trump, it’s just a growing mountain of corpses.

The stink of the trump administration is hairspray, foundation makeup, and rotting human flesh.
