Yes, seemingly lost on the "Black lives matter" folk are the numbers of Black lives taken by other Black people...the numbers of which are sky-high on the graph.
In contrast, the number of Black lives taken by White people are very low on the graph.

Your logic as well justifies rape by a stranger.   Date rape and other acquaintance rape vastly outnumber stranger rape.

The differential in rates doesn't make one acceptable.

Never said it does.

Exactly 2020 isn't 2016 and maybe white America is finally reacting and evolving ignited by the gross injustices and crimes against people of color that have gone on for too long and not been remedied.

Watching a guy get murdered by a cop, who looked as casual about it as if he were tieing his shoe, maybe was the "enough is enough" spark.

And IMO Kap deserves a lot of credit for putting his career on the line for what he believed.

Amadou Diallo, Abner Louima. Those were the straws that broke my pale humpy back.

“ So front liners got they gun in your back
Bubbling crack, jewel theft and robbery to combat poverty
And end up in the global jail economy
Stiffer stipulations attached to each sentence
Budget cutbacks but increased police presence
And even if you get out of prison still living
Join the other five million under state supervision
This is business, no faces just lines and statistics
From your phone, your zip code, to S-S-I digits
The system break man child and women into figures
Two columns for who is, and who ain't niggas
Numbers is hardly real and they never have feelings
But you push too hard, even numbers got limits
Why did one straw break the camel's back? Here's the secret:
The million other straws underneath it, it's all mathematics”

Pretty amazing that Trump is actively quoting Nixon at this point:

Tweeting: SILENT MAJORITY

And blathering about being the Law & Order candidate.

As a white, heterosexual, Christian male I am well aware of the existence on hundreds of millions of us among the eight billion or so souls in the world.  But there is not one that shares the values and views you appear to have. Like Trump you crave the attention.  There you have my 20 seconds worth.  Now resume your daily function.

Crave attention?
Oh please, I 'never' leave my home. There's no audience.

I think Deej is pointing out that your cowering sequestration from life on our beautiful planet finds its pressure relief valve here on this forum where you feel safe to release cries you would otherwise stifle. Please understand the reasons you stifle them in public, they are sick and awful for the most part, apply just as fully here. You are being the asshole you only have the courage to be on this forum.

It’s just about as sad as anything there is on the internet.

"Lives taken/ killed".

Then why your presumption that other types of homicide in a black community is "lost on the BLM folk.. "  ??   The fact that they presently focus on the especially terrifying type of homicide that is murder by a sworn officer of the law is not implying a disregard of other types.   Murder by those sworn to protect us is a type of murder that provokes terror.   Surely you can grasp why this is more terrifying to people than the fact that friends lash out and kill friends,  or spouses kill spouses.

Moscow Mitch McConnell is still the largest window breaking looter in the country, to the tune of trillions.

Let’s not lose sight of that.

The Left are forcing new ‘victimised stereotypes’ upon minorities

Sky News host Rowan Dean says a renewed form of racism has emerged from the hard left who are “demanding a new stereotype” be put on African-Americans, one where “you have to be a victim of an injustice perpetrated not by a black person”. Mr Dean told Sky News for those on the hard left or even the “normal left” the only black lives which matter are “those that fit a stereotype”. “This is racism,” he proclaimed.

The inevitable argument of racists: agents of the state get to kill black people because black people commit black on black crime!] You only.get to care about what white people allow you to care about!

Bunkum.
Agents of the state should not be killing anyone.

A Black girl was yelling it [about "Black lives matter, but not all matter to you"], at another Black girl holding a Black Lives Matter banner in a protest in America yesterday.
Called her a hypocrite in no uncertain terms.

Yes, you're not allowed to mention Black people killing other Black people and say that "it seems only some Black lives matter but not all Black lives seem to matter".
YOU argue that because YOU ARE A RACIST.

YOU argue that because YOU ARE A RACIST.

This whole line of argument is idiotic because it dodges the screamingly obvious fact that people take up specific causes and protest specific social outrages.   This in no way is to detract from the worthy causes of others.   BLM is addressing the serious issue of extrajudicial killings directed primarily against black people.    Black lives matter,  TOO,  they are saying to their city governance, in this context.

Some people march for a cure for malaria --  this doesn't signify they are callously indifferent to cancer or HIV.   Everyone picks their battle.

That was then and this is now.

The nation and the world have had a couple of years to stew on it and, lo and behold, roughly a third have moved away from a wrong Ass position on the issue and have moved over to a much better one.

Not sure there is any way to quantify how much credit to give to Kap, the multitudes in the cause he took up, natural wisdom and evolution, or the subsequent events in this country, but we’ve come to a place in 3 years where 2/3 are for what 2/3 were against just that short time ago. Some might start to imagine that they were seeing the beginning of a potential trend or something, but that might be reading into it too much.

Some good points being made, but I think some context is needed.

When Kap first started taking a knee Barrack Obama was President.  There was a political narrative widespread on the right that the unrest after the deaths of black men at the hands of whites (real cops and wannabes) was being fomented by Obama for political advantage.  The story became about how ball players were disrespecting the country and the troops and (the majority of) Whites in America took the out that gave them rather than taking a hard look at the realities of this country we are all so fond of saying is the best in the world.  Obama was a punching bag this country was used to taking swings at.

Now the amount of criticism that was heaped on Kaepernick and those who joined him looks pretty fucking stupid, doesn't it?

Was Floyd finally "enough is enough?"  I don't think so.  Again, context.  Now Donald Trump is "president."  He is enormously unpopular, and has been losing the support of suburban whites consistently over the last three years, and I think half the reason these protests are as large and long-lasting as they have been is frustration with him and his administration of idiocy.

And, its deserved.  Trump removed the checks on Police abuse that were put in place under Obama.  Trump encouraged police brutality, and gave pardons to law-enforcement and military officials that abused their power.  So whatever the specific situation that led to Floyd's death, Americans rightly feel that this thing is going to go on unchecked by this "president" if they don't say something (unlike the last one.)

The other part of this has been the police response to the protests, which have only fomented more protests.  A response enabled by Trump through the above reasons + his calling the media the "enemy of the people" which has emboldened a policing community that supports him by as much as 80% to  carry his words into action.  The result has been America seeing police abuse reporters in real time on camera, while they in turn document police abuses against citizenry.  And the result has been more Americans seeing in their own eyes why Kap took the knee, and more people being called to head out into the streets.

So...leadership people don't trust to do the right thing, and a violent response to the protests have led to a bigger push-back that has pulled in more white folk to the cause.  Yeah, maybe some of it is about the imagery of a policeman blithely chocking a guy to death on camera, but shit, they had Eric Garner on film too.

So Drew Brees was asked what he would think if NFL players knelt again during the National Anthem and he said:

I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.

Which is really a testament to the idiocy and self-delusion of that position to begin with, if you still parrot it knowing full well with everything that has been happening the last few weeks that this was not remotely what taking the knee was about.
