When Scientists doubt  the Lancet’s report by Scientists  on the subject of hydroxychloroquine

In an open letter to the Lancet’s editors and the study’s authors, some 120 doctors, statisticians and epidemiologists write that the headlines about the study “have caused considerable concern to participants and patients enrolled in randomized controlled trials” evaluating the drugs. Thus many researchers have scrutinized the data, and the “scrutiny has raised both methodological and data integrity concerns.”
Antimalarials have been long been known to increase risk for cardiac arrhythmias, particularly in patients with underlying heart conditions. Infection by the novel coronavirus can also cause inflammation of the heart muscle in severely ill patients, which can result in arrhythmias. Yet the drugs have been used safely for 60 years to treat and prevent malaria as well as for rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Hydroxychloroquine did not prevent healthy people exposed to covid-19 from getting the disease caused by the coronavirus, according to a study being published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The study is the first randomized clinical trial that tested the antimalarial drug as a preventive measure, according to researchers at the University of Minnesota Medical School who conducted the trial. It showed that hydroxychloroquine, which has been touted by President Trump, was no more effective than a placebo — in this case, a vitamin — in protecting people exposed to covid-19.

“As we say in Tennessee, ‘that dog won’t hunt’ — it didn’t work,” said William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine and infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Schaffner, who was not involved in the trial, praised it as “rigorously done.”

And don't have the hide to say 'All lives matter"

You as with all the other dishonest folks say "all lives matter" only when "Black Lives Matter" comes up, and only to eshew actually doing anything to protect those black lives.

While still doing nothing to protect the lives of the poor who happen to be white.

Murkowski was honest.

The rest of them? Full of shit.

I like that one guy (who I did not recognize) who said that there was still so many specifics they didn't know like the relationship between the clearing out of the peaceful protesters and Trump's photo-op and how it would be good to know what happened.

Like, yeah, it would be good to know how this happened.  If only there was some mechanism by which a sitting Senator could conduct something like oversight over the actions of the Executive...

Former Defense Sec james Mattis slames Trump

paraphrase

...first pres in my lifetime who tries to divide Americans and is a threat to Americans

drip drip drip will turn into a tsunami and drown the motherfucker

damn shame when you were in place and had the pres's ear...

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/06/james-mattis-denounces-trump-protests-militarization/612640/

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. “We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. We can unite without him, drawing on the strengths inherent in our civil society. This will not be easy, as the past few days have shown, but we owe it to our fellow citizens; to past generations that bled to defend our promise; and to our children.”

“When I joined the military, some 50 years ago,” he writes, “I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. Never did I dream that troops taking that same oath would be ordered under any circumstance to violate the Constitutional rights of their fellow citizens—much less to provide a bizarre photo op for the elected commander-in-chief, with military leadership standing alongside.”

YOU argue that because YOU ARE A RACIST.

This whole line of argument is idiotic because it dodges the screamingly obvious fact that people take up specific causes and protest specific social outrages.   This in no way is to detract from the worthy causes of others.   BLM is addressing the serious issue of extrajudicial killings directed primarily against black people.    Black lives matter,  TOO,  they are saying to their city governance, in this context.

Some people march for a cure for malaria --  this doesn't signify they are callously indifferent to cancer or HIV.   Everyone picks their battle.

The guy commentator at the NBA was sacked from his tv and radio jobs for saying "All Lives matter" which is now offensive to African Americans apparently.
Who knew.
I saw "All lives matter" placards in the protests.

Of course, you choose your battles - provided you are white. For that antipodal ass and those like him black people only get to be angry about what white people say they can.
