Many Guardsmen said they felt uncomfortable with the way they were used to handle the unrest because demonstrators lumped them in with the police. They felt that while they swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, their presence at times intimidated Americans from expressing their opinions and even escalated the tension.

And in the case of Guardsmen involved in the Lafayette incident, some felt used.

“As a military officer, what I saw was more or less really f---ed up,” said one D.C. Guardsman who was deployed to Lafayette Square last Monday and who, like some others, spoke on condition of anonymity to speak freely. The official line from the White House that the protesters had turned violent, he said, is false.

The crowd was loud but peaceful, and at no point did I feel in danger, and I was standing right there in the front of the line,” he said. “A lot of us are still struggling to process this, but in a lot of ways, I believe I saw civil rights being violated in order for a photo op.

“I’m here to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and what I just saw goes against my oath and to see everyone try to cover up what really happened,” the Guardsman continued. “What I saw was just absolutely wrong.”

Among the more serious repercussions of letting a terrorist play president, so far.

Black communities have to change themselves...no one can change things for them;
White people/other people can help, but real change must come from within.
I've been at this a while...long before BLM.

And yet, you seem to have learned nothing.

Your focus is on the need for the black community to change (as if you cared).

Change yourself. Change YOUR community instead of hiding like Trump in your bunker.

Or shut up, admit that you are racist as fuck and only bring up Dorn as a way to counter talk about Floyd, otherwise you would not give a damn about Dorn at all.

I've learnt plenty.
Burning down America is not the answer...all that did was rob African American folk of their supermarkets and social housing etc.
Now they have less facilities.

You've been at what for a while, exactly?

I mean, it seems quite apparent what you've been "at", but let's hear it in your own words. What have you been at?

As far as the USA we are at a time when we are going to push past "black communities" and "white communities" to one community, sir.

Contemplate that.

I know, with the dissolution of the economy (trump’s sly way of defunding the police and everything else) and the growing cascade of preventable federal disasters, I should really give #Russiagate a rest.

The damn heart just keeps beating away, right there under the floorboards.

Just got to say, the discussion started as one in which people look to confirm their own biases. It was not intended to be a comparison of media outlets. However, once I was asked to provide an example of lies in media that was not Fox, I answered the question

That was not the question.  The question was:

If you can find a major media source on the left that daily made a claim as outrageous as COVID being a hoax cooked up by Democrats, please post it.

And your response was Jason Blair.  LOL.  Proving my point.

And the original discussion was about how people seek out information that confirms their biases.  If that isn't a discussion where media plays a large role (and sure, throw Facebook into that) then I don't know what you think belongs in that discussion.

And I agreed.  They do.  The asymmetry lies in the fact that one side has built up massive media organizations that largely exist to tell lies to confirm those biases, and the other does not.  And that is pretty fucking asymmetrical.

I'm not going to find tit for tat examples of the left media lying and knowing they were lying. They're out there but I'm not here to delineate some sort of line that proves one side is "worse" than the other. I'm here to say they are both biased and yes both lie. A definite and willful distortion of the truth is lying and both sides do it.

Sorry, that's untrue.  That you would need to "go find" examples of the left media lying proves it.

I don't need to find examples.  I can type three letters.  FOX.  or OAN.

I could point out how Hannity speaks at Trump rallies, or that Trump himself tweeted "Fox is doing nothing to elect Republicans" like it is a given that this is their role.  They are not journalists.  They are propagandists.

And if your contention really is that Democrats have an equivalent fact-free propaganda arm that exists largely to further their political aims, put up or shut up.  Where is it?

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/george-w-bushs-office-calls-claim-he-wont-back-trump-made-up

Yes. Bush has neither said he would or he wouldn't.

His wife is less unclear, publicly.

Publicly.  But if you asked the Times to produce the source for Bush's stance (which is not an outrageous one given he didn't vote for Trump in 2016, according to him) they would be able to produce them.

Journalism.
