b)  what percentage of those that were IN the towers perished?

More great stuff.  The term "hitting on all cylinders" was coined for the type of day you're having

Projecting 200,000 deaths by October:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/16/health/us-coronavirus-tuesday/index.html

What an unmitigated disaster. Total American Carnage. And Trump and co truly could not give a shit while they watch the stock market and their own polling.

Disgusting.

It's really not

About.0006 of the population.

Quality of life is of concern

Yeah, who cares about how many people are dying - they're mostly not your people.

You stand with Trump despite 4 years of his showing you exactly the person he is, you are part of the problem, and a Trumpist to the core.

It's the PRESIDENT he is that is important.

Character matters.    It matters in most jobs.

(I had replies to about five evening/overnight posts,  but Needs,  Joshecho, Lime,  Fac,  Larry, manage to find time zones or sleep habits that get them there first.   Was also going to post on the new steroid,  but Needs just did.   Nice to have a bit of good news.)

Like the plus 5 you expected by the end of last week?

The futility of numbers -  the "0.0006% of the population" thing underscores that it's HOW people die.   We know a couple million die each year in the US  from cancer,  heart disease, other organ failure.   But our daily habits and emotional responses are directed at far less frequent forms of death because they are sudden and often grisly.   It's why we fasten seat belts, or feel alarm at terrorism and mass shootings.   Everyone pictures their deathbed at a certain distance in the future.   A car crash or a bomb or a sudden onset of severe respiratory distress seems more capricious and "not what signed up for."   (it's why a lot of healthy Americans don't bicycle for transport,  even though biking deaths are relatively few -  tangled up in someone's grille sounds so awful,  that the odds aren't reassuring)

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/16/biden-gets-boost-from-small-donations-as-some-wealthy-donors-sit-on-sidelines.html

Joe Biden and the Democrats have been hauling in record fundraising totals ever since he won a landslide of primaries during Super Tuesday in March, which helped propel him to become the party's presumptive nominee for president.

Much of that success is due to small-dollar donors. Biden's campaign announced Monday that they, along with the Democratic National Committee, raised over $80 million in May, a historic amount, with an average donation of $30. As noted on Twitter by Biden's deputy campaign manager Rufus Gifford, the total surpassed President Barack Obama's 2012 May haul and Hillary Clinton's final amount over the same time period when she ran for president in 2016.

Yet some bundlers working the fundraising circuit for Biden have started noticing that some big money donors in their networks have been absent in recent weeks, according to people with knowledge of the matter. They declined to be named as these fundraising efforts are made in private.

Some influential donors remain too busy with their own businesses in dealing with the coronavirus. Others are not yet sold on Biden's candidacy and are waiting to see whom he picks as his running mate.

The running mate is the key to his candidacy.

Here's the lie. Now, spread it for us, governor's!!

Pence Tells Governors to Repeat Misleading Claim on Outbreaks

Published June 15, 2020
Updated June 16, 2020, 5:30 a.m.ET

Vice President Mike Pence encouraged governors on Monday to adopt the administration’s claim that increased testing helps account for the new coronavirus outbreak reports, even though evidence has shown that the explanation is misleading.

On a call with the governors, audio of which was obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Pence urged them “to continue to explain to your citizens the magnitude of the increase in testing” in addressing the new outbreaks.

And he asked them to “encourage people with the news that we’re safely reopening the country.”

In fact, seven-day averages in several states with outbreaks have increased since May 31, and in at least 14 states, the positive case rate is increasing faster than the increase in the average number of tests, according to an analysis of data collected by The New York Times.

The vice president played down the overall size of the outbreaks, stressing that some states were seeing what he called “intermittent” spikes of the virus.

And he was dismissive of the idea that community spread is a culprit, focusing instead on specific outbreak locations, like nursing homes. In fact, as cases rise, officials in several states have specifically pointed a finger at community spread.

Your GOP. Corrupt as ever.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/16/us/missing-veteran-found-dead-hospital/index.html

Speaking of grisly. Not so much the manner of the death, but "missing for a month" and "found in the VA hospital's stairwell?"

Quote
The man, who the district attorney's office declined to name was last seen at the facility on May 8 and had been reported missing on May 13. He was found wearing the same clothing he was reported missing in.

The police and the VA were both involved in searching for this man... and I have to wonder where exactly it was that they were looking!
