I admire TR's record on conservation and other things, but have to agree that the composition of this particular statue (with a Native American and black in subservient positions to TR on the horse) is pretty much an insult to PoC....

The energy on vetting statues and determining their symbolism and value to society is very much misplaced.
That energy could be brought to bear on things that matter far more to people, like food insecurity issues that condemn so many children in the USA to physical and mental health stressors that impair their young lives.
Don't waste time with Stonewall Jackson, when Mrs. Brown's kids down the street are starving.
The energy being directed toward the symbols of oppression is being channeled in a way Ive never seen in such scale and duration.
That energy will replace the existing power structure which is built on the criminalization of poverty and the profit made off incarcerating poor people. Same as it ever was.
America profiting off the bondage of black people. Break that cycle and the social inequities you described most likely don’t exist on such a grand scale.
Stonewall Jackson was a traitor to his nation and fought to preserve the slave based economy of the South.
His side lost and caused the Deaths of more Americans than Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo and Ho Chi Minh combined.
Why are there statues of him anywhere in the nation he tried to destroy?
Because they’re a thumb in the eye of any and all Black people who try to get off the wheel.
When the athletes protested during the anthem they were told they should grateful they’re ALLOWED to paid for having the ability to do what only a few thousand people in the world do and even though they are the best of the best.
