American officials provided a written briefing in late February to President Trump laying out their conclusion that a Russian military intelligence unit offered and paid bounties to Taliban-linked militants to kill U.S. and coalition troops in Afghanistan, two officials familiar with the matter said.

The investigation into the suspected Russian covert operation to incentivize such killings has focused in part on an April 2019 car bombing that killed three Marines as one such potential attack, according to multiple officials familiar with the matter.

How fitting the smoking gun is held by Putin.

Whether Repubs can muster more than  feigned outrage over Trump's treasonous dalliance with Putin iremains deeply in doubt.

Trump is a traitor.

Rep Banks came out of the briefing held today for 8 GOP congressmen explaining that because of the NYT, now they cannot do a complete investigation and... these go back to his own days serving in Afghanistan, in 2014 or 2015.

Is this finally what makes Republicans unwilling to cover for Trump?

I doubt it. But I guess there is a chance.

3 or 4 more percent of the I’ll take the crazy at home because I’m sure he’s strong abroad set should drop off and maybe some of the uneasy with rampant disease & civil unrest & economic disintegration will find this enough off an off ramp to take.

Those aren’t people who will be coming back to the fold down the stretch. Once you see a wart in trump you quickly discover he’s nothing but an amalgamation of warts that have totally swallowed whatever vestigial host there ever was.

He’s got time for two or three more major catastrophes to amplify with his Cracker Jack team of nasty moron henchmen which will each also peel off a couple of points.

Meanwhile Biden is enjoying the groundswell he has produced while working quietly in his basement, exemplifying and disseminating the best rational and empirical approach to the evolving moment.

Real news from the real press covering Trump's dereliction of duty and ignoring our national security and the safety of our armed forces, because he wants Putin's approval.

its treason.

AP now reporting

"The White House was aware in early 2019 of intelligence indicating Russia was secretly offering bounties to the Taliban for the deaths of Americans. That’s a full year earlier than has been previously reported."

Time for the house to open the Russia issue up the way they delved into the Ukraine scandal. Since they’ve already advanced recovery and police reform packages that make McConnell’s head bury itself into his torso cavity like it was trump’s penis, the House has time to begin its inquiries and deliver some subpoenas.

Joe seemingly couldn't even remember recently that he'd been VP.
Very worrying.

Best to appoint a very very very capable VP, and very very very capable hand-picked A1+ advisers, if Joe is gonna be voted king of the world.
It's in my best interest to have such an administration in Washington.

Love the edits from when you said how great it would be around here with the perfect man as president. This is a response to your prior version.

It's like you weren't here during the Obama administration or something.

None of us (a) thinks Biden walks on water, or (b) is afraid to criticize the party we prefer to have in power. You have us confused with Kid (who thinks Trump is a tad petty, but that's all) and Ward (who thinks some of Trump's fiscal policy is broken, but that's all).

A little bit slow, are you?

This has been pointed out multiple times, including by me.

Echoes 1, 2, and 3 are, too. I expect 5, 6, 7, and more will be, later.

Ward even went so far as to express crocodile tears over my having lost my moderator status, in an erroneous but standard for him assumption.

Something nobody would have predicted:

Quote
GOP operatives are for the first time raising the possibility that Donald Trump could drop out of the race if his poll numbers don’t rebound, Fox Business reports.

One “major player” described Trump’s current psyche as “fragile.”

So basically July 1 and some states are just now enacting mandatory face mask laws.
Incredible.

Would have been a very different story if they did this March 1 (or March 15 or April 1).
