Gilead hopes to make $500M this year from remdesivir, and $1.2B next year.

If the gov't used the Liz Warren strategy of getting an equity stake, the US could have recovered all its investment.  If for its $70M the US got a 10% or 20% stake in the drug.  That could bring in between $50M -$100M this year and potentially another $120M-$240M next year.  Money that could fund other drug research.  In thsoe early stages when remdesivir was an orphan drug, Gilead likely would have given 10% or more for the research funding.

Also, I would pass a law that Gilead has to pay the corporate rate (25% or at least a minimum of 15%) on remdesivir profits, without allowing them to zero out their corporate taxes with accounting maneuvers.  That's be another $100M the gov't would receive this year and over $200M next.

Have to stop socializing risks and privatizing profits.  And make sure companies pay taxes.

Something nobody would have predicted:

GOP operatives are for the first time raising the possibility that Donald Trump could drop out of the race if his poll numbers don’t rebound, Fox Business reports.

One “major player” described Trump’s current psyche as “fragile.”

"We barely survived the first shutdown and once we were allowed to re-open in Phase 2, were very strict about following all CDC guidelines," a spokesperson for the Volstead bar said.

Unfortunately this is likely a lie

Bar owners can put up all the signs they want, have employees wear face guards, etc -

but what I am sure they are not doing is enforcement of patrons.

I feel for the bar owners - knucklehead gonna do what they do.  Short of having trained social distance officers..... hey - maybe that is the next thing.

Great inside look.   And the gun pointers were lawyers - who were committing a felony under MO law - it just gets better and better.   What also amused, is if you look at pictures of the whole mansion,  it's built like a fortress - just closing the doors would give the residents an impregnable retreat from any imagined marauders.

I know,  right?   I mean,  his psyche has been fragile a long time.

Please, Barton.

Had the protesters simply been marching past, maybe that would have been fine - though in a private hood.

But clearly they were congregating outside the house.

I'm sure if they were congregating that had nothing to do with the couple standing on their lawn shouting at them and brandishing weapons.  As I said yesterday, their actions made themselves a target, as opposed to as barton said, just hunkering down at home (if they were so scared of the colored people outside.)

Congregating!!

Could that have been due to the spectacle of the lawyer-dufus couple with guns in front?

I notice you don't dispute it's a felony under MO law.

And there is also the obvious point that if you go pointing a gun at people,  someone might point a gun back at you.   Pointing a gun is an unpeaceful act of escalation - that's why Missouri made it a felony.

It's not about colored people.

They paid to live in a certain environment - and this has been trampled on.
