I'm sure if they were congregating that had nothing to do with the couple standing on their lawn shouting at them and brandishing weapons.  As I said yesterday, their actions made themselves a target, as opposed to as barton said, just hunkering down at home (if they were so scared of the colored people outside.)

It's not about colored people.

They paid to live in a certain environment - and this has been trampled on.
Yep.  Some of their best friends are black.

Falls in line now with world numbers

Yes,  lawyers know how to craft a good narrative so they're all ready for court.   As I said,  and Needs said,  and you have not responded to,  brandishing weapons and pointing them is provocative, escalates aggression,  and is a felony in Missouri.

And if,  as the couple claim,  they are supportive of BLM and have defended many civil rights cases,  why mess with a crowd marching farther up the road to the mayor's place to advance that cause they claim to champion.   Why bring out guns and endanger the crowd they claim to support?   And,  again,  it's a felony.

They are idiots.

Rand Paul refers to Fauci as not all knowing and to the scared population as sheep being led by a couple of men in government

Fauci responds that he agrees mostly with Paul - and that often the PRESS relays, interprets his words incorrectly.  Specifically mentioned is the safety of sports leagues

Have you read their attorney's statement?

Could that have been due to the spectacle of the lawyer-dufus couple with guns in front?

I would say no.

Of course you would.

They weren't going for that couple's house, just as they had not gone for anybody else's house. They had a goal and your efforts to excuse the ninnies are wasted. Not to mention that his wife should never have been out there wish her pea shooter that she ostensibly did not know how to handle. If he, with his semi-auto rifle wasn't enough to scare them away, all she would be was a miniature speed bump.

The peaceful protesters were not the subject of scorn or disdain by the McCloskeys," their attorney, Albert S. Watkins, said in a statement to CNN. "To the contrary, they were expecting and supportive of the message of the protesters. The actions of violence, destruction of property and acts of threatening aggression by a few individuals commingling with the peaceful protesters, gave rise to trepidation and fear of imminent and grave."
Watkins says his clients acted, "lawfully on their property," and that "their actions were borne solely of fear and apprehension, the genesis of which was not race related. In fact, the agitators responsible for the trepidation were white."

Oh, well, I stand corrected.  I mean, if that is what their attorney says then it must be true.

Sorry WTF is the point here?  You really think that given where we are now, anyone should be listening to fucking Rand Paul?

Imagine some decades from now, far removed from the daily scrum we see these days of Trump loyalists and everyone else.  What gets written in the history books  won't be Trumps daily twitter feed stoking and praising the white christian people (who will no longer be the majority).  What will get written,  will be the facts and some key quotes.   I can understand why trump has his supporters today. We are all near-sighted.  We all quote the news sources that confirm our biases.  But with the benefit of decades of hindsight I can't imagine history will be kind to this presidency's crisis response.  Things might look bad for Trump now, in terms of his re-election chances, but I think things will be far far worse for Trump's legacy.  He won't be alive to defend it or distract from it.  I hope to be alive in 25 years and be able to look back either pointing the finger at where America completely fractured, or the turning point where we buried our collective demons.

Were you alive during the Reagan years? Because that was a fracture!

Trump is more like severe head trauma.

I was barely three years old when Reagan was elected (the first time)

you can trace most of today's idiocy, ignorance, greed, disharmony, disgrace, corruption, and the absolute rejection of government as a solution to that putz & his crew.

Quote
The McCloskeys called the St. Louis Police Department shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an incident summary provided to Fox News by the department. They told arriving officers that they heard a "commotion," then “observed a large group of subjects forcefully break an iron gate marked with ‘No Trespassing’ and ‘Private Street' signs."

But the video shows the protesters walking through the gate, which did not appear to be damaged at the time.

“Once through the gate, the victims advised the group that they were on a private street and trespassing, and told them to leave,” the police summary further states. “The group began yelling obscenities and threats of harm to both victims. When the victims observed multiple subjects who were armed, they then armed themselves and contacted police.”

Sounds like the group didn't pause until the couple came out to yell at them that they were trespassing.

Also sounds like the group did not break the gate when they came in, so no violence of vandalism occurred.

And the order of events, according to the McCloskeys, was
1) Group enters
2) McCloskeys tell them to leave
3) McCloskeys observe that some protesters have guns
4) McColskeys retrieve their weapons to brandish them at the protesters they stopped.
5) McCloskeys call police

Given that order, yeah, the McCloskeys broke the law and did it stupidly.

Falls in line now with world numbers

The number to watch, as ever, is the percentage of concluded cases that have ended in death.

The good news is that that, too, has declined - down to about 11% vs. ~8% for the world. The other number to watch is critical cases.

Yeah a pandemic isn't really A Libertarian Moment.

(though Trump mostly has treated it as one)
