An interesting piece, as is often the case for 538.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/27/us/mike-ditka-kneel-anthem-trnd/index.html

Mike Ditka should consider a new life other than public commentary.

While he has a perfect right to say what he things, "America, love it or leave it" was passe 40 years ago. And protesting is about as American as it gets, whether he likes it or not.

After carrying that franchise for YEARS Walter Payton got clowned by Ditka in the Super Bowl.

Fuck Ditka.

Re AOC-

this was posted in another forum a few days ago in a dedicated AOC thread in response to a poster suggesting AOC run for Pres in 2024

(name deleted for poster privacy)

I mean, she's going to run for President relatively (in the grand scheme) soon. I don't think she primaries Schumer, but I can see her making the leap in 2024 (if Biden's VP chooses not to run) or in 2028.

Quote from: bankshot1, post: 3956611, member: 9

She may have a seat for life in her congresional district, and grow to be extremely powerful in the House (getting the assignments and eventually chairmanships she desires to help shape policy and social change) but I wonder if she has the same appeal either statewide or nationally, as she does in a district. I think external events could result in a broader national appeal. But she will be a force to be dealt with as she knows how to play the game.

I am sorry, I should not bring the focus to the homosexuality in prison, the part of the movie "Blood In, Blood Out" about how they divide people up by race, and then the races fight against each other in prison, they really do that. They have race riots in prison, and all of that. And they are teaching the prisoners to be racist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_In_Blood_Out

They divide people up by race, and then the races fight against each other.

And I am all for prison reform, and for reforming and redeeming the prisoners. I loved my uncles, and I wrote letters to them when they were in prison, and I went with my Grandmother to visit my uncles in prison. One uncle is still alive, and he is married to a great woman and he is doing great, he works to help other people to get away from drugs and crime, he works for a treatment center, he is helping other people and I am very proud of him.

We need to train the prisoners so that they can get jobs when they get out, etc, there is a lot that we can do.

And we should stop dividing them up by race and fighting them against each other.

I understand also that people form gangs for protection, and we are social creatures, it is all complicated.

Reforming and redeeming our prisoners is what needs to happen, instead of making them into racists and fighting them against each other. But, I understand that it is all difficult.

When my uncles were in prison, I wrote a letter to the warden at a prison where one of my uncles was, and I gave all of my ideas to the warden on how to better run the prison. I told the warden that he was making the prisoners all racist, and I gave him all of my ideas on how to do a better job.

A good movie about a prison warden is "Brubaker" which was shot in 1980 with Robert Redford.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brubaker

We need prison reform, we need to end the racism in prison, and I apologize for bringing the focus to the homosexuality.

Salute,

Tony V.

Two Aussie women have just arrived in Washington.
Both aged 55.
Both with red hair (one sandy-red).
Both wear glasses.
Both have short hair.
One has middle name Karen.
One is a former army officer, Brigadier.
One Marise, the other Linda.
Both have university degrees...one a law degree.
One is bambuland's  Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The other is bambuland's Minister for Defence.
They are in Washington to meet with their US counterparts.
Don't think they'll get to meet the big boss of America...would be nice if they could.

They're nice ladies, no scandals about them.
They don't say much, 'quiet talkers'.
We can send them anywhere, 'good girls' they are.
Nobody's fools though. :-)

The District is truly sending Brother John Lewis home in style.

Timing is everything and anytime is the right time to get in #GoodTrouble

His influence on the 2020 election will be immense.

Explain who is influenced and why.

Excuse me,  professor,  but is it possible he's saying Lewis's passion, commitment to ideals,  embrace of peaceful protest,  and legacy are going to live on?   Does every assertion here need diagrams and flowcharts?

You think the Dow is going to win the election for Trump? Okay. A working vaccine could help him I guess
