"The schools can handle the social distancing. And the kids will wear masks. They know what they are doing." And so what if two teens died of COVID-19 complications yesterday, they don't get sick or transmit or die!

Georgia, today:

All good, nothing to see here.  That hallway looks like it has just tons of ventilation.

Agree with Bo and Need on how Biden should stick to facts,  and I think Joe can do that,  but have doubts that facts really mean all that much to anyone who might be swayed by a debate.   The people who still care about facts were never going to vote for Trump or leaning anywhere his direction.  But we need the debates to maintain some vestiges of life before the Post-Truth Era.   And if Biden can conjure even a faint memory of America before unreality TV, web silos built on mythologies,  and the big lie,  then he will have achieved something.   If he can just help people to remember what bipartisanship is,  and how it sometimes worked,  that might help sway a few moderates.

Now I read the 18 posts since I looked in here a little while ago.

Joe is also capable of showing empathy for the suffering (because he has it) while Trump is incapable of showing that he cares (because he doesn't.)  I hope Joe isn't afraid of showing some emotion in these debates, and some recognition that he understands and feels the difficulties Americans have had to go through.  And not just re: COVID.

Some good and bad news for the obese:

Quote
Smaller bodied people *systematically* received earlier antiviral treatment than larger bodied people. Controlling for this difference eliminates impact of obesity on H1N1 fatality. Obesity kills, but the critical mediator is not biology, it's bias.

Fuck me, masks should be mandatory.
That's very irresponsible.

Hell, what they probably should do is stagger class endings/starting by 5 minutes so that the halls have say 1/3 of the normal traffic.

Sure, let Joe be Joe.  He really does give a shit.  He knows what it's like to lose loved ones suddenly.  He should mention names of some friends or coworker friends who have had relatives die (maybe invite some relatives of CV-19 victims to attend and give them a shout out).

But also try to coach him to stay on point and not ramble.
I just keep how badly Hillary would rip into Trump, contradicting his BS and bludgeoning him with facts and figures and the real world death and disaster he unleashed.

Biden really needs to call Trump a Russian puppet again.  Use the exact words Clinton did.  Highlight how we knew this in 2016, even if it has since proven to be true, and dare Trump to come back with the same response.

What part of "this behavior lies outside the bounds of error" are you having a hard time grasping?

Optional on the masks

Interesting.

Nope.  Unlike Trump, he actually doesn't.

Trump has a solid 40% regardless what he does or says.

During the debate he could reach in his pants pull out a lump of shit and throw it at Martha Raddatz and his base would claim it a superior debating technique.

Fuck trying to change anyone’s mind.

Just help the 60% get their votes cast and counted.

VP race?

Karen Bass is a lunatic Fidel Castro acolyte, who praise Scientology and once belonged to an armed revolutionary group. She's out.

Stacey Abrams is so delusional she thinks she's the Governor of Georgia, and by the way, she's essentially unemployed. In one of her last regular jobs, she wrote bad porn novels -- for real.

Kamala Harris, meanwhile, is so transparently transactional that even Democratic primary voters who have a strong stomach found her repulsive. Pretty much no one who knows Kamala Harris likes her.

The odds have seemed to shift dramatically in another direction, away from Karen Bass and Kamala Harris and Stacey Abrams, and towards someone you have seen before. That would be former National Security Adviser, Susan Rice.

-------

Say what you will about Susan Rice and we're about to, but she is not a buffoon.

Susan Rice is smart. She is hard-eyed. She is experienced.

Susan Rice knows exactly what she wants and she understands the system well enough to get it.

She is a threat.

Others have pointed out that being unable to pronounce the name of Yosemite National Park in this way was a Married With Children joke, because you know, that Kelly was such an idiot.

Well, now she is "president."
