The photos,  and short accompanying stories of these lives,  are powerful.   Next time you get a little rainwater in the cellar, something gets moldy,   or some critters gets in a shed or attic and nibbles some old family memorabilia,  you can look at Beirut and get perspective.

Lord!

This is not satire!

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/kamala-harris-farther-left-than-elizabeth-warren-bernie-sanders/amp/

No, but it is parody.

A parody of responsible journalism and publishing, that is.
National Review did not create the chart.  That is the work of The non-partisan Govtrack.us and the chart is two years old
Now Govtrack.us rates Harris The most liberal and the least conservative Senator in today’s Congress.

This is the thing that gets me when right-wingers talk about the dangers and extremism of a "far left" candidate:  look at the "president" you support.

He is openly racist and supports white supremacy.
He separates families and cages kids as a deterrent to legal requests for asylum at the border.
He actively seeks to disenfranchise millions of voters who he thinks are less likely to vote for him.
He buddies up to dictators, seeks political and financial favors from foreign leaders, and is encouraging foreign interference in our elections.
He is gutting common sense environmental laws in ways not even auto companies support.
He would have kicked 30 million Americans off of their health insurance, and is now seeking to defund Social Security and Medicare.
He simply ignored the threat of spread of a deadly virus in the US that has now killed over 160,000 Americans.
Yesterday he tweeted out support of an openly Qanon candidate.

Ask a right-winger to imagine their worst nightmare antifa environmentalist whatever the fuck fantasy is in their head running the country, and know that the other side is living that reality right now.  There is simply no equivalent to Trump's extremism on the left and the whole scare show about "dangerous liberals" is just that.  Not to mention just pure baseless disinformation.

"Voting for Biden and Harris will destroy our country!"

Uh, have you checked in on what is happening in the US right now?
Say what? What does that diatribe have to do with non partisan ratings of congresspeople?

Without assessing the accuracy of the rankings, or its importance, on the basis of the degree of progressiveness, Harris, 4th on the criteria with a 96.7% ranking is about indistinguishable from the first 23 D-senators on that list with scores ranging from about 90% (Leahy Vt) to 98% (Markey Ma) with the average of the first 23 D-senators about 93-94%. That is to say Kamala is in line with the most D-senators.

Relative to Republican senators, Neanderthals or deplorables, she is progressive.

Men are being convicted today and tossed in prison even when the evidence doesn't stack up, accusers being believed absolutely.
Cardinal George Pell, for example.
Eventually freed at appeal by the High Court of Australia, the very highest court in the land...a Court not known for overturning judgements of Supreme Courts.

George Pell is guilty as hell
Hang it high on banners
Ring out every bell
He was the darkest shepard
Of a dark carnivorous flock
Who belongs locked down in prison
Disgraced and defrocked

By the way, I have identified who this supposed Q is. His name is Frank Wuppermann, though he sometimes has gone by Oscar Diggs.

Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs?

Or it's John DeLancie.

Luckily, Cardinal Pell could afford the best lawyers...otherwise he'd still be rotting in prison.
Stories from prisons are horrifying.
I'd feel better if I had $400,000 sitting in a "rainy day" account....that I could use for the best lawyers.
Falsely accused, as the elderly man near me was, and if the accusing woman were believed, I would be kicked out of the complex.
I am not as popular as the elderly man, not as well known.
I might get 1 or 2 glowing character references only.
I was a "social butterfly" when I moved in 3 years ago.
Waved and smiled at everyone. Talked with women (and men) at the letterboxes etc.

Then, and now, after what happened with the elderly man, I talk to "no one", wave to "no one", socialise with "no one".
I also keep a detailed diary of exactly what I do every day, and at what times.
"Where were you on the night of Feb 6th 2019?"
No worries, all in the diary, with a back up, and also one on the computer.

”Degrading Trump for his business acumen and success (and his family wealth) is nonsensical.”

I am not Roman Catholic.
He is nothing to me.
I am one of those despised-by-many, WASPs.

On the evidence presented to the court he should've been found not guilty.
He was convicted and tossed in prison.
Appeal failed.
He appealed to the High Court.
High Court agreed with bambu-ilk..."not sufficient evidence".

Red's game is to distract and mislead and obfuscate.

Kamala is too progressive!

Its a scare tactic.

Red's afraid of black woman. Though he does still harbor an uncomfortable fondness for Lena Horne as came of age in the '60s.

But i digress, I just put his #s into context and labeled them 'BFD".

(given the condition the shuttle was in when he took over, however, anything would have been an improvement). But other claims he’s made about the shuttle over the years don’t really stand up; yes, he did rescue a distressed property—but other bidders did come forward at the time and the value of the shuttle franchise was beyond dispute.

In other words, while he helped people, it is unclear that they (and maybe more) would not have been better helped.

Further, there is no sign that he managed the overall acquisition well. "It was not for naught" is hardly a testimony of business acumen, Kid, and that that was the best you could come up with, it really ought to tell you something.

But it does not negate the need for a full accounting of how justice in Victoria was so perverted that an innocent man could be railroaded through a politically motivated police investigation and an unfair trial.

Cardinal Pell became the reviled scapegoat for all the sins of the Catholic Church. But convicting the innocent does not help the victims of child sexual abuse. Quite the opposite. It allows the guilty to go free and creates doubt over genuine cases.

This was Australia’s Dreyfus Affair, an egregious miscarriage of justice that has savaged the reputation of this country’s legal system around the world.[/I]
