Woodward doesn't drive voting.  Never has.

LOL.  If only you could ask Nixon about his history of driving political opinion.

So...Trump admitted to lying to the public about the dangers of COVID.

Outside of your expert political analysis on the impact of this revelation, do you have any thoughts on that?

Quote
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said the president’s words to the public were designed to express confidence and calm at a time of insurmountable challenges.

There are a few issues with this explanation:

- The big one is that Trump wasn't expressing confidence and calm.  He was lying.  Sying cases would be down to zero when he knew they wouldn't be, comparing COVID to the Flu when he knew it was much worse, etc.

- It also isn't like he was taking action behind the scenes while keeping everyone calm in public.  His actions matched his words.  He said COVID wasn't a threat, and he didn't treat it like one until it was too late.

- Very obviously, dealing with COVID requires that the public be informed, otherwise there is no way of containing it.  So keeping people "calm" isn't the priority when that isn't what keeps them safe.  Their knowing what is going on is what would have kept them safe.

The fact is, when Trump says he didn't want to create a "panic" he was talking about the markets and the shutdown measures because he saw them primarily as threats to his reelection.

Color blind people have a super power, color blind people can see better at night than people with normal sight. So, they can drive a car at night with the headlights off to be stealthy, and they can see snipers in the trees at night, etc. The color blind people own the night.

What we had ratified by Woodward's journalism was that Trump was ok with putting 10s of millions of Americans in harms way, when all he had to say was,

'be cautious, wear a mask"

But the son of a bitch politicied common sense and wearing a mask, and was ok with killing hundreds of thousands of Americans.

because it served his narrow self-interests.

Or he would have to put down the TV remote control or his putter, and provide real leadership.

IMO the only question one should ponder is

What else will he do to protect himself, promote his own narrow interests, and put me and my family in harm's way?

He's the real disease that this country has to be rid itself of.

The White House "explanation" for Trump's deception and Trump's own responses...

just dig deeper.

And there is so much more to that book than "just" the COVID-19 story.

https://www.westernstatescenter.org/schools

This is about the rise of white nationalism in our schools.

Everybody here except Ward, Kid, and Bambi will want to read this. Ward will LOL, Kid will deny, and Bambi will make some sort of mealy-mouthed response.

This type of comment is not helpful to the forum

Just an FYI

Heh

I doubt he feels your advice is wise or helpful.

Mary Trump is already yesterday's news.  Nobody cares.

Woodward doesn't drive voting.  Never has.

But he - as is his goal - does make bucks off his prose.

He could shoot a guy on 5th Ave and you’d say ‘no biggie.’

The fact is, when Trump says he didn't want to create a "panic" he was talking about the markets and the shutdown measures because he saw them primarily as threats to his reelection.

Joe Biden and the dems are going to be reminded of their response to the Swine Flu out break.

In2009 as H1n1  looked like a big threat to the country Biden proclaimed:

Listen, we need to be aggressive early on this!

The next week, Biden made good on his pledge — and set off a deluge of criticism. In an interview on NBC’s “Today,” Biden said he wouldn’t advise his family to fly on planes or ride the subway.
“I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places right now," Biden said. "It’s not that it’s going to Mexico, it’s that you are in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes everywhere through the aircraft.”
Airlines angrily accused Biden of fearmongering. Media reports noted that Biden’s pessimism contrasted sharply with the reassurances President Barack Obama had given a day earlier, when he said there was no need to panic even as he declared a national health emergency. In a matter of hours, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew were summoned to the White House and assigned to clean up the mess Biden made: “Nip it in the bud,” LaHood said, recalling their instructions.
(Politico)

As it turned Obama/Biden avoided a disaster only because of luck
as recalled by former Biden chief of staff Ron Klain who said at Texas A&M in 2019:
We did every possible thing wrong. Sixty million Americans got H1N1 in that period of time, and it is just purely a fortuity that this isn’t one of the great mass-casualty events in American history. [It] had nothing to do with us doing anything right; just had to do with luck.
If anyone thinks that can’t happen again, they don’t have to go back to 1918. Just go back to 2009, 2010. Imagine a virus with a different lethal-ity, and you can just do the math.”

I think Red's saying that Trump should have listened to Ron Klain.

"I'm going to vote for Trump because Vice President Biden handled H1N1 poorly."

So what you're saying is that Trump killed 200K Americans ...

and was perfectly ok with thst outcome, as long as it promoted his self-interest.

But in addition to infecting 6 million Americans and murdering at least 200k with his lies, his gross incompetence, also caused trillions of dollars of economic loss to the country.

and the scoreboard is still running on the economic loss, the sick and the dead.

and who the fuck cares what idiocy Red tries to distract with.
