California Governor Gavin Newsom agrees on the need for better forestry in addressing the terrible fires in his state  After a wildfires Meeting with President Trump on Monday in California, Mr. Newsom disagreed on climate policy but said, There’s no question” that “we have not done justice on our forest management. . . . I want to thank you for supporting that effort.

A couple of days ago the New York  Times opined:

Millions of Americans are moving into wildfire-prone areas outside of cities, and communities often resist restrictions on development. A century of federal policy to aggressively extinguish all wildfires rather than letting some burn at low levels, an approach now seen as misguided, has left forests with plenty of fuel for especially destructive blazes.

Yet in his California camaign stop Joe Biden blamed the fires totally on “climate change”, an unmistakeable endorsement of the far left whackos of the democrat party.

Pretty sad.

In its 175 years in print, Scientific American has never endorsed a presidential candidate. But this year, the magazine feels "compelled" to break that tradition and endorse Democratic nominee Joe Biden, because President Trump flat-out "rejects evidence and science," it said in a Tuesday editorial.

Throughout his first term, Trump has "attacked environmental protections, medical care, and the researchers and public science agencies," Scientific American writes. But his "most devastating example" of rejecting science "is his dishonest and inept response to the COVID-19 pandemic," the magazine continues. He knew about the virus's dangers back in January, but "did not develop a national strategy to provide protective equipment, coronavirus testing or clear health guidelines," per the magazine. "These lapses accelerated the spread of disease through the country — particularly in highly vulnerable communities that include people of color," leading to nearly 200,000 deaths, Scientific American continues.

Maybe we can get them to take him!

Sure enough, the scientists are engaging in sedition!

Caputo is unhinged.  Needs to be excised.
Amazing that they brought this talk radio guy who used to shill for Putin in to run an important agency during an epidemic crisis.

Capitol is part of the Manafort, Stone dirty tricks squad.

The trump admin is Putin’s coup. It’s no surprise Putin is using his own people to run it.

He also has the hearts of White Supremacists and Nazis:

Certainly a big tent, Trumpism.

Not surprised that SciAm would break with their tradition of neutrality.  My subscription lapsed last year, but I still get it online. I don't know a single person in the sciences who would support Trump for any office other than Street Manure Management.  I know that the administration managed to dig up a few contrarians, most of them affiliated with the Heartland Institute and with careers that involved daily drenchings with oil money.

Climate change - 1

Environmental mismanagement - 1

1+1 = MASSIVE FIRE

Interesting mixture of truths and distortions there.  Yes, fire suppression for over a century has upped the fuel content of many forests, and more people are moving into outlying areas without any sane zoning.  As I posted earlier, building a house where you have a couple acres of open grassland around you is really the best option in the West.  However, Biden has not put all the blame on hotter summers, which are a result of global warming trends, and has a moderate position that acknowledges that problems of population shift and undergrowth build-up are also factors in the current catastrophes.

You can't really lay blame on either the Right or the Left in this matter, because few in either wing really understand forest management issues.  Partisan point-scoring is really not useful in fixing the problem.  Biden's greater respect for science means that he will be a good listener when forest management issues are on his desk, and that's really our best hope right now.  He would also be more likely to resist the forces of big money developers who want to score quick profits from building in wildfire zones, without regard for human lives.

No More Masks Rally

It was in St. George, Utah, in August. But I don't think the views it represents have changed in the intervening weeks, nor are they confined to Utah.

"Another reason I hate masks is that most child molesters love them!"

They were climbing into Trump about the CA fires..."climate change".
He: "It'll get cooler, you watch".  lol

Of course the fires are all Trump's fault...lol

Good lord you're a jerk.

Nobody has said the fires are Trump's fault.

NO FUCKING BODY.

What we have said is that it is his fault that he has refused to acknowledge the science behind the fires, on one hand, while being incredibly slow to provide federal assistance to deal with the fires and their consequences, on the other hand.

And on the third hand, he offered US help to RUSSIA for their fires! I don't mind helping Russia. I mind helping Russia, while refusing to help US citizens.

And... Trump also ignores that the majority of California forests are managed by the federal government.

Trump did not cause the novel coronavirus. He caused the federal government to respond inadequately to it and he caused tons of people to believe they did not need masks, leading to tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths.

Similarly, he did not cause the fires, but billions of dollars of property damage might have been avoided had he acted more swiftly.

Are you seriously debating those points, Bambi?

Those sitting at the table...shown on my tv...sure seemed to be blaming him and his climate change policies for the fires.
I'll bet those fires have burned most years since granny ran for Possum Queen, and Jethro, Ellie May, and Jed were helping her to.

You’re an idiot.

At the time I posted that, while watching my tv, waiting for the 5pm news to come on,  granny was indeed running for possum queen, with  ellie may, jethro, and jed helping her.
Gotta love the Clampetts...so rich, so unaffected by their wealth.

Obama was king for 8 whole years, why didn't he fix it so there were no more fires,  no fires like those today?
