On ABC's "This Week," Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller dodged questions about why Thursday's fundraiser in Bedminster, New Jersey, was not canceled after the White House learned that senior counselor Hope Hicks had tested positive for COVID-19, and pushed back against the notion that the campaign hasn't taken the virus seriously -- despite holding indoor events and not requiring facemasks.

And you accuse CNN of having silly headlines.

Why not acknowledge that the Trump mouths utter stuff far less sensible than the headlines you have kvetched about?!

"A mask is very important, but even if he's -- he could be 20, 30 feet away from the nearest person, and still have the mask on. That's not going to change anything that's out there."

I imagine the 7 million people who have been infected with the virus and the tens of millions who have been impacted economically and in other ways, are relieved he's aced the take home test, but wished he had opened the pandemic playbook 8 months ago.

Attendees had to test negative for Covid-19 on Thursday, complete a wellness questionnaire and pass a temperature screening, according to a Republican National Committee spokesman. The event site was professionally cleaned and sanitized before the event, and every guest stayed at least 6 feet from the president at all times, the spokesman said.

For the first of two events, which began at 3 p.m., a group of about 20 people sat around a rectangular table for a conversation with Mr. Trump.

Again. Trump recently crossed a similar rubicon to deface a Bible with his slimy little racist paws. Trump spreads his toxic stains in many forms. While trump does discriminate worse than the least educated among us, he is wantonly and sluttishly indiscriminate in spreading his stain. He gives even the doctors who keep him alive and the federal officers who protect him new reasons to fail by the hour. It’s the flailing of a sick psyche trapped in a sick body in precipitous decline.

So, he got together with a bunch of people without masks, using the very loose 6 ft guideline instead of masks, and exposed them to him, because it was a lot more than 15 minutes.

State health officials in New Jersey have contacted more than 200 people who attended a campaign fundraiser at the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster on Thursday, hours before the president announced he had COVID-19, as they try to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

Somerset County officials were meanwhile contacting employees who worked the event, most of whom live in the county. In a joint statement issued Sunday, the officials asked guests and employees to monitor their symptoms and, if they were close to President Trump or his staff, to quarantine for 14 days.

The officials, who started seeking the information on Friday, said on Sunday that the White House had sent them a list of 206 guests. They declined to say when they had received the names. They were advising guests not to be tested for five to seven days out from the event.

“While the risk is low, a negative test earlier than that time cannot definitively rule out that COVID-19 will not develop,” the statement said.

White House spokesman Judd Deere said the president had no contact with any donors or staff that “would be considered to be ‘close’ based on CDC guidelines (more than 15 minutes and within 6 feet).”
