"Charly" was one of the better film adaptations of a sci-fi short story.   Came out same year as 2001.  And Planet of the Apes.  A good year to be in middle school and a sci-fi fan.

Why did the WH block the proposed vaccine standards?

The pharmaceutical companies said they were too tough.

Zombie trump, risen from the gurney and the grave, Nosfaratu, shlumping forward to drain what little vitality is left in republican politics and, if he can get away with it, the Unitied States.

Can trump make it through the list of words that proves he doesn’t have dementia?

Can trump make it through that short list of words with being overcome by fits of coughing?

Fac he feels better than he has in years, a self-portrait of health as long as he gets pumped with roids and designer drugs.
He feels 20 years younger.

I almost feel sorry for Melania.

One of the side effects of the dexamethasone is mania.

He feels rejuvenated now, due to experimental super-drugs and therapies, and extraordinary healthcare, available almost to no one else, and I wonder if we get a Flowers for Algernon type of ending.

A television movie starring Cliff Robertson?!

It was a short story and made into a movie, "Charlie"  and was played by Cliff Robertson, and who won an Oscar.

The point was Charlie was a functional idiot, who through experimental surgery (originally performed on a mentally-challenged mouse, Algernon) becomes a genius. Charlie keeps Algernon and unfortunately watches Algernon revert to his former state. I wonder how long Trump's new state lasts.

A fine synopsis, Banks. I know the tale well and teach it.

But... you missed the kicker. Algernon dies. Hence "Flowers for..."

I hate to break it to you Josh, we all die.

The point was Trump feels 20 years younger etc due to experimental medical science-and then he becomes a retarded mouse again.

And my point is that Algernon died as a result of the experiment and Charlie recognized that that would happen to him, too.

I think the tragedy of the story was not death, as we all know death is inevitable, but rather a genius Charlie understood by watching Algernon revert to his retardation, that too was his fate, Charlie's gift of genius allowed him to understand his sad fate. And the gift was also a curse as it enabled to see and understand his tragic future.

I heard Tim O’Brien lay out this timeline for Herman Cain and his Covid19 experience:

The late Herman Cain attended the rescheduled Juneteenth Rally in Tulsa on June 20. He was not wearing a mask.

On July 02, he tested positive for Covid19.

On July 10 he said he was improving and by July 15 he said the doctors seemed pleased with his progress.

July 27 rolled around and he assured everyone he was really getting better.

Herman Cain died on July 30, 2020.

Trump has had Covid since no later than a week ago.

If republicans don’t cram personal liability protection through, donald will be sleeping on Jared’s couch while he awaits trial or his final release.

Herman Cain didn’t get brain destroying crazy drugs to keep him peppy.

I wonder how that will affect the math.

From what we saw today, it doesn’t look good for trump.

It must be a problem with the Neanderthal genes.

How is that “social justice” messaging of the NBA and the NFL playing in Peoria?
Not well.

The first take wasn't good enough, so he had his camera crew do a 2nd take.

Too funny for words!
