First line of the debate, “Mike Petri Dish Pence, so nice to see you upright and seeming well this evening. I almost believe you’ve been a very lucky man.”

Pence also needs to be asked whether he or trump is patient zero and how he plans to atone for the more than 210,000 deaths he failed to prevent on his watch.

Huh!

Kid hasn't updated us with what the Rasmussen Report has to say.

https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2020/white_house_watch_oct07

Biden takes 12 point lead.

And shockingly enough, RCP hasn't updated either that or the now days old Ipsos report in their averages. How peculiar.

Heh.

The important thing to understand is that National polling will soon be down to +4 Biden, and we all need to now speculate on why that will be.

Ok, to be fair kiidcarter8 could not have predicted the debate disaster (though really, was it that hard to see that coming...) or the guy catching COVID (though, again...) but I don't think polling turns as hard away from Trump as it did if things were trending well for him.  The sympathy vote could very well have been there if Trump hadn't already so badly handled COVID and if he hadn't so badly handled the aftermath of the positive test.  And now The Great Negotiator has completely shat the bed on stimulus talks.

Polling will probably contract again when the crazy news from the week settles down a bit, if it does.  But Trump's attempt to make this election about anything but COVID has failed, and that doesn't bode well for him.  If their best play is going back to Hillary's Russia Hoax (!) then they are sunk.

Vinnick is a true American hero.

I was glad he lost the race to be president, though.

He was too old to be president, anyway.

Australia loses another freedom. You can't marry who you want. Glad we live here.

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/no-english-no-visa-australia-to-block-visa-for-partners-if-they-don-t-speak-english-20201007-p562o3.html

But the front page news is that Oz is getting a new bar! WTF else would be so exciting, after all?

https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/bringing-italy-to-sydney-euro-beach-chic-bar-proposed-for-bondi-20201007-p562zp.html

60% of  refugees/asylum seekers are still on welfare a decade after arriving.
Too many people in the country now don't speak English to a standard that would permit them to gain employment /integrate.

Too many 'immigrant ethnic enclaves' now...enough!

------------

Chic Italian bar on the hallowed sands of Bondi Beach?

I'd be very surprised...given like it states in the article...the beaches and parks are alcohol-free zones.

Chic Italian bar for the rich on a roped off area of the beach?
I see the poor arriving on the beach with their coolers full of alcohol, "party time".

- Let's allow the 2 men to debate Hunter Biden's recent deals.  Why would this be of limits?  (Wallace was an effective shield the other night - and Trump didnt help things by talking to much)

Why should it be off limits?

If you think spending time discussing what the offspring of each candidate (and spouses) have done, vs. COVID, Climate Change, Russia, China, Education, Health Plans (and lack thereof) and the like is a good way to spend the nation's time, you are a bigger fool than you have ever seemed before, which is saying something.

If, instead, you think it is a useful distraction for Trump to debate Hunter Biden, without discussing Trump's Records, Eric and Donald Jr's records, and Ivanka's record, then that would be true to type - and still foolish.

And if you think Trump wouldn't howl bloody murder if Biden brought up things like the boys and pater having been BANNED from running non-profits in New York due to their corrupt mishandling of things or Ivanka's very generous allowances from China, then you are just lying.

Trump freezes H1-B visas.

Good.
More jobs for Americans, at good wages, hopefully.
Cheap labour should be abolished.

MAGA!
Jobs on American soil for Americans only!

Shouldn't you be more worried about how great Australia is rather than concern yourself with the USA, given that your are allegedly an Aussie?

It's very odd. I can tell you that here in America, no one cares how great Australia is. No one actually thinks of Australia, except for maybe wondering why they can't spell syrah or pronounce words without sounding like someone is standing on their big toe.

Maybe it's time you thought more about your PM than our POTUS.

POTUS rules the world.
Australia is in the world...therefore POTUS rules Australia.

Cheap labour foreign workers...both onshore and offshore America...whose jobs will they take?
Answer:  Yours.

Whose jobs will they decrease the salaries of?
Answer:  Yours.

If you want jobs for the millions of Americans now unemployed because of the pandemic, you should be cheering loudly for what POTUS has done.

If you apply now, as obsequiously as possible, New Zealand May accept you as her colony and lead your nation out of its darkness and dispair.

LOL

You've been reading too many fairytales.

Sez the fool who thinks that Trump rules the world.

Mike Pence does not want plexiglass barriers around him at the vice presidential debate against Kamala Harris.
"We have yet to hear medical evidence what the plexiglass is for," Pence's chief of staff Marc Short told CNN.

Remember, this is coming from the guy in charge of the US response to the virus.

And who works with a number of people who have tested positive this week.

Trump has done enough. That's why there are so many unemployed. Extending his term would pretty much do the world in. Then you better see if you can end up like this guy:

Quote
Italy imposed a nationwide outdoor mask mandate Wednesday with fines ranging from 400 to 1,000 euros ($463 to $1,163) for violations, Italian news agency ANSA said.

Italy thus is joining Spain, Turkey, North Macedonia, India and a handful of other Asian countries in imposing a nationwide, outdoor mask mandate. Spain has had such a requirement in place since mid-May and Turkey since last month

Should have done that the first time around, back in late Feb. when the outbreak started in North Italy circa Feb 22.  Things would have been much different by now.

Quote
Elsewhere in Europe, such outdoor mandates are in effect in hot spot cities such as Paris, Brussels and Pristina, Kosovo. In many Asian countries, social pressure to wear masks outdoors has made binding government decrees unnecessary. The Australian state of Victoria has had one in place for weeks.

Not sure which Asian countries they are referring to.  But most outdoor mask-wearing in China was because people really didn't want to get infected and endanger themselves and their families.  Chinese had trouble understanding why Americans didn't feel the same.

The virus is long past in China.  There was more mask wearing than usual in SH during the week long holiday travel with lots of domestic tourists and crowded sites.  But in general I'd say outdoor mask wearing is down to roughly 30% in SH, with some of those having masks down on their chin as they walk around.  The only times I've worn a mask in the past three months has been on the subway, the bus and when I enter a hospital grounds -- all places where face masks are mandatory.  As far as I know, masks are not required anywhere else.

Bank staff refuse to train overseas replacements

QANTAS has defended its decision to sack about 350 Sydney workers and move their jobs offshore, while 60 St George Bank workers in Kogarah yesterday refused to continue training their Indian replacements.

The NSW secretary of the Australian Services Union, Sally McManus, said the impact of job losses on information technology staff would be devastating. "Some of them have been there 20 years, they have in-depth skills on the Qantas systems, but the skills are not transferable," she said.

Staff at a St George Bank accounts office in Kogarah yesterday voted not to help train a team of IT workers from the Indian outsourcing company that is taking over their jobs.

One staff member, Cathy Samartzis, said it was like being asked to dig your own grave.

"Some people have been here a long time," she said. "They have mortgages and families and kids to feed. It makes me feel sick."
The staff, who were warned last month that they would lose their jobs early next year, were told on Tuesday that they would assist with training the new staff through a buddy system.

Their Indian replacements first appeared in the office on Wednesday.
