Senator Leahy - exhibit A on why we need term limits.
The people that vote for him don't think so.
Unless he is challenged in primary Leahy is safe in that area. They are voting PARTY, not man
Addendum - I see upon research there HAS been a primary challenger in 2004, 2010 and 2016. Not sure if there was a serious man among them.
That's because they are voting for the man, dipshit.
As usual, you know nothing of what you are saying. Vermont chooses based on the person more than almost any other state in America (and maybe any, but why stick my neck out), which is why they get GOP folks for governor and why they had senators from different parties, then reelected their GOP senator when he changed parties - they voted for HIM and not for the party.
They
used to be who you think they are, a single party state. They went 107 years without electing a member of the Democratic Party to be governor. But the end of that string, in 1963, was also the last time a member of one party succeeded another member of the same party. They've alternated parties in the governorship ever since.
One of the people Leahy beat was Richard Snelling, a four term GOP governor who lost to Leahy, then came back to win the governorship again, three terms later.
If it were only party, they would never have elected Bernie Sanders, first mayor, then US Rep, then US Senator. (And they chose not to elect Sanders governor against Snelling's successor, when Snelling ran for the Senate.)
