Quote
“President Trump made claims of voter fraud and suggested he wanted to delay the upcoming election,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, observed. “Does the Constitution give the president of the United States the authority to unilaterally delay a general election under any circumstances? Does federal law?”

This should have been a gimme. There was only one correct answer: No.

But this is not the answer Barrett gave. “Well, Senator, if that question ever came before me, I would need to hear arguments from the litigants and read briefs and consult with my law clerks and talk to my colleagues and go through the opinion-writing process,” she answered. She said she didn’t want to give “off-the-cuff answers” like a “pundit” but rather approach matters “with an open mind.”

What? Sure, nominees try to avoid the slippery slope of opining on potential cases, but there is no room for argument here, especially from a self-proclaimed “originalist” and “textualist.”

Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution states: “The Congress may determine the Time of chusing the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.”

I was open to the possibility that ACB could be independent, but that reply (as Bo touched on earlier) lost me.  That's disturbing, that she would respond to such a simple question with such blather.  The rest of Milbank's column is worth a read, if you can surmount the PW.

When Floridians won’t touch you with a ten foot pole, try again in Pennsylvania?

Not a great pitch from a guy with such a long history of rapes, sexual assaults, and attempted incest.

Max Boot neatly summarizes the nuttiness of remaining a Trump voter, and with a concise list of what makes the Trump admin the worst in US history.  If you actually know anyone "undecided," these comments from a former Republican might be worth passing along.

Maybe Biden is "ahead" because Trump's is a failed Presidency.

Yes.

But in fact....... no.

The latest national telephone and online survey finds Biden leading Trump 50% to 45% among Likely U.S. Voters. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate. Three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

In mid-September, the candidates were neck and neck, but following Trump’s announcement that he was nominating federal Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, Biden moved from a narrow one-point lead to eight points ahead. Last week following the candidates’ first debate and Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis, the Democrat jumped to a 12-point advantage. Biden has now been at 50% or higher for the past three weeks

LOL.
The question was simple alright.
Simply pointless.
As was almost all of the democrat questioning. Their real goal was to stage a campaign rally with as much Trump bashing as they could muster.
Sheldon Whitehouse’s 30 minutes of dark money conspiracy theories was a hoot.  Maybe John Grisham can run with it for his next novel.
There is a reason the Washington Post on -line subscription is mere $29 a YEAR.
Writers like Milbank are just parrots for the DNC.

Yep.

But also to try to make their case ahead of the SC Nov 10 event.  Since they will get zero say at that time.

Wise? I don't know. They get 50 minutes.  So many options.

Harris's best bet was to not come across as a harpy.  Fail, I'd think.

You don’t think well, even for a sock puppet Kiid. We’ve been telling you. We’ve given you pointers to help repair your thinking.  It is what it is.

This explains why republicans are wondering if roid-baby can stay within 20 points in his impending loss.

Vote for Biden.

I did.
