Inside the Fall of the CDC
https://www.propublica.org/article/inside-the-fall-of-the-cdc

Good longish read.
They never make it clear why the CDC didn't just adopt the German/WHO test after the CDC test was compromised.  And if that was a CDC or Trump Admin decision.

They also don't discuss why the CDC remained the only testing lab in the country for a couple months until the Trump Admin finally let private labs do testing as well.
Again, blame apportionment to CDC or Trump Admin is not discussed.

FOIA fodder sometime soon after Jan 20, 2021, I hope.

But bet it is the Trumpian appointments at work.

Quote
At one point, he described his joy in watching law enforcement authorities move in on crowds to prevent violence in Minneapolis after the protests against racial injustice.

"I don't know, there's something about that — when you watch everybody getting pushed around — there's something very beautiful about it. I don't care what I'm doing. Not politically correct ... But you people get it."

Yes, Trump is a fascist wanna-be strongman dictator.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

And if not then, then the second... or by 5+ years of it.

You're probably right.

I moved away before Indians moved into my hometown.

When I was there the next town over had a growing Indian section.

I did appreciate the good vegetarian food when I was there.

As coronavirus surges across the US, only 2 states are trending in the right direction

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/18/health/us-coronavirus-sunday/index.html

Typhoid Donnie needs to keep it virtual. Those are 2 states he has not rallied in. No masks and packed like sardines coming to your neighborhood soon. If you support him get his disease.

I saw a small part of the rally in which he explained that he might have to leave the country and behind him was a sea of people... most of whom were wearing masks!

Pennsylvania democrat Governor Tom Wolf to out-of-work Pennsylvanians,
DROP DEAD!

Might need some evidence to back up that spin,  scholar.

Thanks for the link

It's been reviewed a few time.  US always goes with their own testing.  The decision to not use the WHO test isn't really the issue

Blame?  No real need for that .  It was poor execution - and we moved on.

Time was of the essence and they wasted 3-5 weeks getting the test working.
The German test that WHO adopted was simpler (2 genetic sites checked) and worked.

If you don't know who made the mistakes, why and how, then you don't learn how to prevent the same or similar mistakes in the future.  A lot of the mistakes were purely political interference in CDC/ public health matters.  But some of it, especially the failed test and contamination seems to have been CDC intransigence.

Vaxart has apparently been misrepresenting their role in Operation Warp Speed, prompting an SEC investigation.

This is about Sturgis,  and a motorcycle enthusiast who was actually able to learn something from his experience.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/10/17/sturgis-rally-spread/

As the story notes,  his case wasn't counted as Sturgis spread.   All evidence suggests it was.

And here is a paywall free access to the same story....

"Just having fun"

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/18/politics/gretchen-whitmer-lara-trump-cnntv/index.html

This is akin to the bullies' perpetual "I was just kidding, you can't take a joke" routine.
