More winning!

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/satellite-photos-reportedly-show-construction-iran-nuclear-site-n1245073

Boy, sure is a good thing we showed those Iranians! Otherwise, they might be building stuff at their nuclear site...

Getting a jump on stuff they can do unheeded if Biden wins.

It didn't just begin.

And Trump, who's been trying to use the Iran agreement he quit to impose sanctions, has said nothing about it.

You want to pin it on Biden, same as Trump is trying to pin all sorts of terrible future events... that just happen to be occurring on Trump's watch.

Remember the whole "elected for four years" claim, Kid? Oh, it only applies to appointments? He's stopped being the president for international relations?

So with no moderator, this site will be closing in a week or two?
Damn that.
I just get comfortable and the chair collapses.

Hopefully we can encourage Josh to stay,  perhaps put those Hannibal Lecter muzzles on a couple members.   I also offered to mod,  if he does resolve to go,  since I'm a web admin elsewhere and am familiar with the PHP software.   I do not believe in banning (except for one week "cooling off" periods,  in severe cases), FWiW.

5 days out - 52% approval

https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/trump_administration/prez_track_oct29

Trump made a passing comment that no president with such high approval lost re-election.  Does anyone know if this  true? recent Bush and Carter?

*of course there were much fewer polls back then

Why the fuck would anybody answer the question for you?

And if his approval were that high, he would have a point.

But it isn't and he doesn't. He is nearly entirely pointless.

Your legs function as a secondary blood pump to your heart,  so you don't want the blood that goes down there to be chilled when it circulates back up into your torso.

An octopus has three hearts.
A hagfish has 4.

Maybe in the future they'll make humans with a secondary heart so you can live if your main heart gives out.  Or insert a second heart when you reach 70...
(another way for athlete's to cheat)

Dear Amanda,  you have stolen my heart.   My backup heart,  however,  is reserving judgment at this time....

Josh:
Simply put Red on Ignore and stop engaging with him.
It's pointless, as he'll never admit to being wrong, is frequently wrong, rarely provides evidence or backs up his statements, and is basically a right-wing troll sapping your time and energy.

Nothing is gained by refuting him.  It's just a waste of time.
I have Red on Iggy and don't read his drivel except when others quote him.  I might respond, but it's likely to be one post and done with it.  Engaging with Red is an exercise in futility and frustration.

My guess,  and Josh will correct me if I'm wrong,  is that as a mod he feels some statements (especially misinformation, myth,  and deceptive spin) should not stand.  And the mod has some duty to address them.   But yes,  a longterm troll can drain your battery and inject too much noise.

Larry, the same applies to the problems Steven Miller is having with not being white.

And Jay Sekulow and Jared Kushner.

These motherfuckers see this pandemic as a final solution of sorts.

Poor choice of words, Larry. Reflects the prejudice towards Jews that is found so often in the black community.

I am considering dropping this site after the election.

Anybody interested in taking on the moderator position if/when I go?

If so, drop me a PM letting me know why you'd want that joy-inducing power. Thanks.

Josh

I hope you reconsider.

Your voice is a reasoned and intelligent one and would be missed.

And if it is what it is, it is and

happy trails.

but I hope you hang around

Why wait?  Do it today.  Josh has lost his fastball - and it was just about 74 MPH previously

I'd do it just to ban people.

Would the accused get a trial?

No.  But bans wouldn't be permanent.  Redemption is available for those who amend their ways.

24 hours for a first offense.  48 hours for a second offense. Etc.

Dissent is fine.  Trolling isn't.

Hard to define trolling but you know it when you see it.

Trolls will learn where the line is by stepping over it and eventually stop stepping over it.

I think the knee jerk response of some here towards others they disagree with is to immediately label then as trolls. Facts and postings of legitimate sources have been labeled as trolling. That's a slippery slope.

No, I don't think so. Some terms should be left to stand only within their original meaning. Like "lynching", for example. Would it be okay for someone here to say that Trump administration has been lynched by the fake news media?

Using terms in this way reduces the value of their original meaning, which I think causes more harm than it creates good.

We are free to use them, but we cannot escape the judgement that comes with those choices.

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused, for a second time, a Republican Party effort to block a three-day extension for counting absentee ballots in Pennsylvania. That means that at least until after the election, the court will not intervene in the way the state conducts its vote count.

The court in a second case from North Carolina, also refused late Wednesday to block a similar extension of time to count votes, an extension put into place by the state election board.

New Justice Amy Coney Barrett did not participate in either case. Her decision was particularly noteworthy because her vote might or might not have affected the outcome and because a Pennsylvania county had earlier this week filed, and then withdrawn, a formal request for the new justice to recuse herself.

Good news for democracy.   Though I will note Justice Barrett's nonparticipation was due to her not having had time to read in,  so it may not reflect any principled recusal.

It's  Kavanaugh who,  earlier,  dropped a turd in the punchbowl in Wisconsin and made me wonder if he got his law degree by a correspondence course.
