Quote
Fourteen out of New Zealand's 25 fatalities have been in people with underlying conditions - but the other eleven had no other known health issues.

Those who had underlying conditions included people with chronic lung disease (5), heart disease (8), diabetes (5), neurological or neuromuscular disease (4) and renal failure (1).

Eight of those with underlying conditions had just one underlying issue, while six of the patients had more than one, and three patients each had two and three conditions.

Four of the 25 Covid deaths have been in people who were put on ventilation during their treatment.

Ministry of Health Manager of Data Services Laura Cleary said it was an unusual step to release the co-morbidity data.

"In general, we do not release mortality information until the majority of deaths have been assigned a cause of death," she said.

"However, we have made an exception for Covid-19 deaths due to the degree of interest  in this information, and the completeness of information available for these deaths."

But Geez, why am I arguing with Red's LOL and uninformed vagueness??

Yup.

It's so tempting to respond to lies and distortions with facts and reason, but they bounce off him like a slow moving ping pong ball.

The notion that even as they lie dying of COVID-19, in hospitals, they still insist that it's a hoax or just not  a big deal is the exact same kind of denialism, the same kind of refusal to learn or inability to look beyond the conspiracy theories and Trumpian (Atlas-based) lies and distortion.

I linked to a piece from vox suggesting that Biden flood the zone, initiating all of his policy projects at once in all areas on large and small bore moves. This way the gross loser party with red and kid as it’s dingleberries, won’t know what to lie about and obstruct first. Their general incoherent whining likely to result as a response won’t stop most of these efforts and will make them more intolerably hideous each day they keep it up. This will help kill them in the midterms.

Biden should also put staunch liberals in as acting interim administrators and secretaries while he’s working with the Senate to get his Cabinet confirmed. Krugman or Stieglitz at Treasury, Bill McKibben at interior, Jon Soltz as Sec Def, Stacey Abrams as Labor Secretary, Castro back in at HUD, Rev. Barber running homeland security, and on but just until his picks are confirmed.

Republicans will do all they can to get Neera Tanden confirmed as quickly as possible.

The other side is for pubic and private investigators at every level of society and government to expose every wrong act, filthy scheme, and outright crime committed by any republican in good standing with the party or the trump camp. Republican on republican crime is the best (many fraud and influence peddling schemes here along with a ton of bribery) because not only does it take perps off the board, it also deepens fissures already present in that den of thieves.

Politics is the art of the possible. Right now it’s not only possible but necessary to cripple the republican party so that it never walks again.

Good question.  I don't think they do.

Looks like we’re gonna have to scrap warp speed if we want vaccines distributed effectively in this country. It’s already gotten trumpy as hell.

The Georgia judge who agreed to freeze the voting machines in 3 counties was already pretty skeptical about the suit, observing that there is "precious little evidence" of any wrongdoing.

Wait until he sees what Sidney's been tweeting about:
Quote
Powell also asserted that Dominion was doing the handiwork of late Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez. “It was conceived and created by Mr. Chavez’s regime for the very purpose of ensuring that he won future elections — as corrupt as it could possibly be,” she said.

Powell’s statements grew even more extreme on Monday, as she retweeted a Twitter message that called on Trump to declare an insurrection, halt the planned convening of the Electoral College in each state on Dec. 14 and use “military tribunals” to investigate alleged fraud related to the just-completed election.

We already knew the first part (though the judge might not have), but this latter bit is a tad extreme, even for her.

The GA Democratic candidates for Senator should hang Sidney Powell around the necks of Sen. Purdue and Sen. Loeffler.

How overly simplistic.  And still wrong.

Of course the Trump economy was almost exactly a continuation of the Obama economy.  Charts and graphs amply demonstrate that.

Trump's signature economic policy was huge tax cuts for the wealthy and companies.  Intended to juice the economy, it had very little effect except to raise stock prices, more wealth for the wealthy, partly through stock buybacks.  The intended investment surge simply never materialized.  $1T squandered that could have been used for pandemic relief (or infrastructure if the Virus never blew in)

But Geez, why am I arguing with Red's LOL and uninformed vagueness??

We get what we expected from a republican government.

http://m.dailykos.com/stories/2020/12/1/1999316/-RIP-Arecibo-Enormous-radio-telescope-in-Puerto-Rico-that-made-stunning-discoveries-has-collapsed

Never let them rise to power again.

The foundation that took care of the telescope has a series of neglects going back some years before Trump.   The dish has been battered by hurricanes,  and earthquakes, for decades,  and had long needed more reinforcement.
