There was never a case to roll out massive tax cuts.
The Trump goal was to goose the economy (at the cost of $1T in debt) to try to assure Trump's reelection.

The money could have been spent much wiser and better - say on education, insuring more Americans, infrastructure, affordable housing -- things that would actually bring a return on investment and improve the country.

Of course it is not debatable since you are living in a fictional world. No wonder you have decided to leave the room.
The tax cuts and regulation roll backs spurred the economy and put people to work.  Across the board unemployment numbers fell to record lows. Trump beat Obama/Hillary by winning over Obama democrats and they stayed with the GOP last month.  In case you aren’t paying attention while  Trump lost the Presidency the GOP rode a blue wave almost everywhere else. Pelosi’ s prediction of a 12 seat gain in the House was a 9 seat LOSS.
The GOP outnumbers the dems in the Senate  for the fourth consecutive election.  At the State level republicans flipped three legislatures and now control 31.
Oh, and one other item you seem to be pretty naive about.  When the stock market goes up it lifts all ships because when investors make more money they pay more taxes.

The Trump tax cuts in '17 (and they were mostly aimed at reducing corp taxes) helped the stock market through higher earnings and stock buybacks, but the real gains were largely weighted towards the wealthiest Americans. This is indisputable. The rich got richer. Which is the way the game is fixed, But this time they got way richer. 

And as I recall the job growth under Obama was superior to that of Trump (pre-covid).  As noted before, the $2 trillion tax cut blew a whole in any argument about balanced budgets but more importantly put programs that the most vulnerable depend on like social security and medicare at risk for coming vicious Republican attacks when under a Biden admin they regain their budgetary balance.

Quite simply those tax cuts were meant to benefit the richest and to be paid eventually by the poorest,

A Sheriff of Nottingham fiscal policy as it were.

The upcoming duel between Sir Joe of Pennsylvania Ave and the dastardly Sir Mitch of Moonshiners should be interesting

I think America is on a real rocky road and the next 2 years may be critical for us to regain our footing.

But I think a step back from fascism is a good first step,

I think it wise if you'd consider it for the good of your kid's future.

A bipartisan group of U.S. senators on Tuesday proposed a $908 billion COVID-19 relief bill that would fund measures through March 31, including $228 billion in additional paycheck protection program funds for hotels, restaurants and other small businesses.

State and local governments would receive direct aid under the bipartisan bill, the lawmakers said. Senator Mitt Romney, a Utah Republican, said the plan contains $560 billion in "repurposed" funding from the CARES Act enacted in March.

Not so much that progressives are on a flawed path, as that the Right has gained traction in social media distorting that progressive path and concocting boogeymen (like "defunding" and "no one can own a car" and "open borders and special payments to undocumenteds").  What we need are real conversations where people don't try to score points by falsely characterizing policy positions.  To those who have no mental immune system, the social media disinformation is highly infectious. 

And it feeds Culture War, when we need Culture Conversation.
