Upon learning Sunday that Rudy Giuliani tested positive for COVID-19, Georgia senators who attended a seven-hour hearing last week with President Donald Trump’s personal attorney were urged to self-quarantine.


Senate President Pro Tem Butch Miller, a Gainesville Republican who did not attend the hearing, said senators who participated in the Senate Judiciary subcommittee meeting who have not previously contracted COVID-19 were encouraged to quarantine for two weeks. Giuliani, a former mayor of New York City, did not wear a mask while in the Capitol.

“We are clearly disappointed that Mayor Giuliani disregarded the health and well-being of others by not wearing a mask when it clearly would have been appropriate,” Miller said.

State Sen. William Ligon, a Brunswick Republican and chairman of the subcommittee that held the hearing, said in a statement that Giuliani was in “close proximity to senators, Senate staff, members of the media and the general public,” and he encouraged them to follow health recommendations.

It was in places like JAMA, which Kid discounts. It also showed up in PubMed, a national medical publications location. It was in dozens of other places.

It just wasn't in the articles Kid read - and what he means is "why wasn't she on nightly news?!"

Was national press not doing its job well enough, ignoring this expert?

Or perhaps they asked for her input and she turned them down.

Yesterday, the US set a new high for 7-day average daily deaths from COVIID-19, at 2,263 (according to Worldometers), eclipsing the April 21st record of 2,259/day.

If we stayed at that level for the remainder of the year, we would get more than 124,000 more deaths before February 1st, putting us up over 400,000 for 2020.

Unfortunately, it is very unlikely to remain at that level, even with the certain drops that we will get around Christmas Day and Feb 1.

We've gone up by more than 1500 deaths a day since the same length of days ago as New Years is from now, which if mirrored going up would be about 3800 a day - averaging that and current yields 3,000+ per day, 165,000 more deaths, and 450,000+ total by the end of January.

But... the time from Oct. 12th to Nov. 7th was pretty flat. If our rate of deaths increases at the same rate as it has for the last 30 days, we would be looking at well over 8,000 dying per day by the end of December and a rate of about 5,000 per day on average for the next 55 days (today included), nearly doubling the current total deaths, for 550,000+ deaths by February 1.

I fear that latter figure. I don't think it will get there, but 6 months ago, I would not have thought we would hit anywhere near 300,000 by the end of the year, either, and it is very clearly headed at least that far and fast.

The Arizona Supreme Court has agreed to hear an election lawsuit filed by state Republican Party Chairwoman Kelli Ward over alleged irregularities with mail-in ballots.

A lower court judge had dismissed Ward’s case last week. But, according to the Washington Examiner, she took an appeal up to the state’s highest court.

The Examiner said that court will now decide the matter without oral argument.

Ward's case aims to reverse the state's certification of its election results to the Arizona Supreme Court, local news station KTAR reports.
