That doesn't work...you have to make people stay home, make them wear masks in public, enact a total lockdown [with some strict exemptions], enact a curfew.

More difficult in US, Canada, etc with larger populations though.

Worked in China with the world's largest population (4x the US pop).
Also worked in Vietnam with 110M in a country the size of California.

In China, there has been little concern about getting the virus since June.
The only time I've worn a mask since July has been to a gov't building or public transport where it's required. Life has been pretty normal in China for over 6 months.  Hell, I've been playing indoor basketball since March 23.
The economy has also been running, restaurants and bars are filled, etc.

China picks off more Australian products

When China decided AUS wasn't a friend, they decided to stop buying their products.

US could take a cue from that ...

China seems to think it should be allowed to buy up the whole of Australia.

Why...did Australia ban Huawei from its 5G network?
Now there's a good question.

Why would anyone want to buy up Australia? It is like making buying Baltic Avenue the keystone of your Monopoly strategy.

Beaches, kangaroos, koalas.
Australia also has the largest identified resources of gold, iron ore, lead, nickel, rutile, uranium, zinc and zircon, and the second largest resources of bauxite, cobalt, copper, ilmenite, niobium, silver, tantalum and thorium.

Trumpites and the liberal elites are united in their desire to open live schooling despite the dire consequences.

On Tuesday, December 1, Michael Flynn, the beneficiary of President Trump’s recent pardon, published a manifesto calling on President Trump to suspend the Constitution and declare martial law so that the military could organize and run a new election for President to void the recent election which was lost by the President.

The core of the manifesto called for the President to “immediately declare a limited form of martial law, and temporarily suspend the Constitution and civilian control of these federal elections, for the sole purpose of having the military oversee a national re-vote.” Flynn’s position was immediately amplified in print and electronic media by far-right groups such as We The People Coalition (WTPC).

It appears that the President was listening because on the day after Flynn’s manifesto and the related WTPC ad were released, his 46 minute Facebook rant included a call for a re-vote.

Sen. John Cornyn, the senior Texas Republican, told CNN that "I frankly struggle to understand the legal theory of it. Number one, why would a state, even such a great state as Texas, have a say-so on how other states administer their elections? We have a diffused and dispersed system and even though we might not like it, they may think it's unfair, those are decided at the state and local level and not at the national level."

During a Hanukkah party at the White House Wednesday night, Trump told guests that with the help of "certain very important people -- if they have wisdom and if they have courage -- we're going to win this election." The crowd chanted "four more years."

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/09/opinions/13th-amendment-slavery-involuntary-servitude-joseph/index.html

I agree.
Agree with what?
The 13th Amendment in its entirety:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

It was the 14th Amendment which extended the terms of Constitution to the states. Nearly a half century ago SCOTUS  interpreted the Fourteenth Amendment (section 2) as permitting the states to disenfranchise convicted criminals. It is the decision of each state to decide  and to enumerate the crimes that qualify, usually felonies.
Today most states permit felons to vote after they complete their sentences.
But should people convicted of violating the individual rights of others be permitted to vote on the laws they showed no respect for?
