Bambi, you only think that because you are a dumbass and you are cracked out on Rupy juice. He owns you and controls your life. Sad. He’s just about ready to fold to China. Excuse us if we don’t follow you into your new existence as someone else’s colony. It’s suits you though. You wear it well.

As for energy, you don’t dig. You don’t import. You collect it from the sky.

Not to power America...now...you don't.
The nearest whole number percentage of power in the world today generated by wind is...zero.
0.04% or such.
Solar can't power America...yet...either.

Tasmania is powered by 100% renewable energy now.

Biden didn't say what you claim he did, Bambi, but what else is new. You swallow GOP lies almost as readily as Ward and Kid.

Quote
In a recent Fox News poll, 42 percent of respondents said that history would remember President Donald Trump as one of the worst presidents of all time.

The poll also found that 54 percent of respondents have an unfavorable view of Trump, 52 percent disapprove of the job he's doing as president, 55 percent think the country is worse off today than it was four years ago, the same percentage disapprove of his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and 53 percent disapprove of his handling of immigration and healthcare.

Regarding Trump's recent attempts to overturn the elections, 58 percent say they don't think the election was stolen, 56 percent say Trump's overturn efforts have weakened democracy and 57 percent said they didn't want to see Trump run for president again in 2024.

The Dems have to put in the work to make sure that trump is viewed as the worst president ever.  By all rights, W Bush should have had the title, but the Dems acquiesced in the cultural amnesia that Bush never existed.  A blown opportunity to tarnish the GOP long term.

How come no Dems are talking about how W Bush and Trump represent the GOP and were disastrous Presidents who set America on the road to decline and hate.  Then go on to make whatever other arguments, such as Republicans are incompetent at governing because they don't believe in gov't.  How all the money shifts to the Rich with tax cuts for the wealthy, and then the Dems are handed a bankrupt country, so the GOP can claim there's no money to aid the poor and working class.

Can't just assume Americans understand these things.  Need to repeat them and make them generally agreed to facts.  Dems need to be more involved in messaging and shaping history.

bambuzooled -- take a few minutes and read this article about electricity generation in Australia.  It discusses the costs and benefits of going solar and wind, including the additional transmission line and storage costs.  Useful numbers, charts and links to the main study.  Right now, renewables are cheaper than fossil fuels for electricity, with prices continually dropping.  And plenty of new green jobs, including installation, maintenance, building transmission lines,

Up to 90% of electricity from solar and wind the cheapest option by 2030

And a good article on the way to expand rooftop solar and its benefits:

rooftop solar in the US is impeded by lack of financing. People should be allowed just to roll the cost into their mortgages. The panels last 25 years and pay for themselves after 6, so you get free electricity for 19 years. They run off sunlight, which is free. The only reason everyone doesn’t put them on is that they have an upfront cost of around $12,000 ($4,500 after the federal $7,500 tax rebate) and most people don’t think in terms of what that would save them over 25 years. Most people just don’t have thousands of dollars lying around to do this with, and hence the desirability of easy financing.

it really isn’t politically difficult to decarbonize electricity by 2035, since there are actually very few losers in that scenario. And there is lots of money to be made in wind, solar and storage. Better, there is half a trillion dollars to be saved by backing sources like rooftop solar in a big way.

And yes, all this is just for electricity.
But soon enough cars will be primarily run on electricity.

Tasmania is powered by 100% renewable energy now.

90%.

Hydro and wind...with 2 diesel powered stations in Bass Strait.

What a brilliant deduction.

To get to 90% renewables by 2030 or 100% by 2035 is doable, but takes effort and policies now and over the next decade plus.

No matter what, polluting fossil fuels are on the wane and cheaper renewables ascendant.  So why not accelerate the transition to a cheaper and greener future, instead of holding on to the worse status quo?

We found large variation in predicted reopening risks: on average across metro areas, full-service restaurants, gyms, hotels, cafes, religious organizations and limited-service restaurants produced the largest predicted increases in infections when reopened (Extended Data Fig. 5d). Reopening full-service restaurants was associated with a particularly high risk: in the Chicago metro area, we predicted an additional 595,805 (95% confidence interval, 433,735–685,959) infections by the end of May, more than triple that of the POI category with the next highest risk (Fig. 2d).

Look at Figures c & e.
Gee, restaurants where people stay for a decent length of time, maskless, are the worst for spreading the virus.  Who'd a thunk it.  Religious meetings -- long time in enclosed space, often with singing.  Other eateries and grocery stores round out the top 5 transmission hubs.

A Korean study discerned that two customers 20 feet away form an asymptomatic spreader were infected within 5 minutes of entering a restaurant, due to indoor air patterns.  https://www.washingtonpost.com/food/2020/12/11/korean-restaurant-coronavirus-airflow-study/

The science is there; but common sense beat them to it.
Btw, the 6' rule is mostly a silly fiction.

I'm all for solar, wind turbines when they're nowhere near humans and animals, electric cars, clean air, etc.
It all has to be a gradual transition.

But, the "climate change emergency" devotees want it all now...which is simply impossible.

100%?
And when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine?
Maybe possible if someone invents batteries that can store solar and wind for weeks, months.

Money.
It all costs money.
Who pays?
The way things are going, Americans won't be able to pay.

Special correspondent just reported on my late tv news from LA.
He was standing in the street...cameras showed all the empty streets, empty buildings where businesses used to be.
65,000 people in LA now homeless and living on the streets in the business district, residential district as well as skid row...8000 people dying in the last week.
