On the issue of the police...

There needs to be more programs to deal with things, and the police should be responsible only for law enforcement and peace keeping. There can be social workers to deal with the homeless people. There can be crowd control to deal with crowds. There can be mental health people to deal with mental health issues. There can be special people for drug issues, and special places where drug addicts can get help, etc. And there can be more Crisis Intervention Specialists, etc. There can be specialized people who can take the pressure off of the police. The duties of the police can be reduced to law enforcement and peacekeeping.

Salute,

Tony V.

Word, Tony.

Double-take... who wrote this?? lol.  Tony V says "Defund the Police" in his own way.

For reasons that remain mysterious (hint, it’s sexism!) The Wall Street Journal decided to publish a humiliating op-ed from a guy whose main credential seems to be that he is a man. This man had some unsolicited advice for future first lady Jill Biden.

Michelle Obama faced misogynoir, a vicious and specific kind of racialized sexism targeted at Black women, and received mountains of criticism for simply asking people to (gasp!) “move” when she traveled around the country doing controversial things like planting gardens, improving school lunches and having a dance-off with Big Bird.

Larry, Larry, Larry.

Clearly you have yet to confront the bias and prejudice that your informs you pitiable soul.

Work on it, before you decide to continue to lecture others here, particularly in the uniquely hypocritical style of yours.

We all have faults. The difference between us? i recognize mine and try to work on them. And there's still much work to do.

But you? Your life is marked by a deep-seated anger and hatred. It's quite sad, really. Quite sad. And it's eating you up inside.

Get help.

Good luck, Larry. You'll need it.

How long have you been spilling this drivel in here?

You’re getting back to the level of hysteria when you told me I could ease my pain by killing myself.

Watch your tone, boy. These days those kind of communications can be prosecuted.

Only Larry would see someone encouraging him to cope and get help for his anger issues as a threat.

Such a victim.

Some do not, are honest and true.

Duh.

Antrim County, Michigan — solid red Trump country — raised eyebrows on election night when the results came in showing Biden beating Trump by 63% for the Democrat and only 37% for the Republican. (Trump had beaten Hillary in Antrim by 61-38).

Republicans demanded a recount and got one on Nov. 5.

Oops! It showed. Trump winning this time but by only 57-43

---------

And so, Allied reports that "we conclude that the errors are so significant that they call into question the integrity and legitimacy of the results in the Antrim County 2020 election to the point that the results are not certifiable. Because the same machines and software are used in 48 other counties in Michigan, this casts doubt on the integrity of the entire election in the state of Michigan.

https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/why-representative-mike-johnson-thinks-that-the-election-isnt-over

This guy actually seems reasonable and smart,  which is what makes the interview so surreal to me.   He truly believes Trump is all about protecting the Constitution and our election process.

Smart, he seems. Reasonable he does not.

He talks about the need to be intellectually honest, but when he talks about all the lost lawsuits, he mentions that in some they lost on standing... but he fails to address that in the bulk of them, which were tried on merits, there was no evidence of fraud or error or anything and even that in many of them no accusation of fraud was ever made!

This is not about inadequacy of lawyers, but lack of any (meaningful) evidence of fraud.

He talks about the Texas suit, but ignores the point that Steve Bullock made that if this was really about the constitutionality of the process, rather than the loss by Trump, the suit would have included places like Montana and California, where the result is not in doubt, but according to the Texas description the process was.

And he fails to acknowledge that the powers wielded were given to those various bodies by the legislatures and if those legislatures had not wished those bodies to retain that power, they could have taken it back... which they did not.

The PA lawsuits come to mind.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/15/politics/trump-organization-documents-ny-attorney-general/index.html

Trump Organization must turn over documents to NY attorney general, judge rules

Gee, the election must be over, now.

Quote
The Trump Organization previously claimed the documents were protected by attorney-client privilege.
Amy Carlin, an attorney for the Trump Organization, argued Tuesday that the Trump organization had "every expectation that those communications would be confidential," regarding discussions about a property in Westchester County involving an engineer.
The attorney general's office argued that the documents were not privileged, in part, because the Trump Organization had "waived privilege" when it disclosed certain documents to the IRS to "gain benefit," said attorney Eric Haren with the attorney general's office.

Haren said that "literally everything other than the final appraisal value" was not disclosed to his office.

James' office has been investigating President Donald Trump and the Trump Organization since 2019, when Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen testified before Congress that Trump's annual financial statements inflated the values of his assets in order to secure favorable loans and insurance coverage, but deflated the value of other assets in order to reduce real estate taxes.

Haren argued Tuesday that refusal to release those documents has "delayed" the attorney general's ability to investigate.

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron made the ruling after arguments were conducted remotely Tuesday. Engoron previously ruled that the documents were privileged.
