Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., criticized her fellow lawmakers over the weekend for putting themselves ahead of frontline workers and vulnerable populations who she says should receive the coronavirus vaccine first

The GOP caucus is all useless mouths. If they escape the virus, they should be done in by their constituents. Their families can try to write of the funeral spreads as a business expense to exploit the new kink in the tax code.

True to a certain degree...BUT,   New Zealand can't defend itself, let alone anyone else...etc, etc, etc.
US spends USD600billion...that's B for billion ...every 52 weeks to protect the free world from its enemies.
That would buy a lot Covid welfare cheques.

Australia would have a good go at defending itself if it were allowed to have nuclear weapons.

Still unclear - maybe someone can explain - why just being in Congress gets you bumped.

Why is a weak 83-year old member of my family waiting while AOC and her ilk get stuck with the doses?

https://www.thedailybeast.com/heavily-armed-far-right-mob-descends-on-oregon-capitol

And they don't get shot and have not yet gotten tear gassed or pepper sprayed.

No, I am not suggesting that they should. I am suggesting that they would have had they been off different skin tone.

From the article....

A dozen more troopers arrived at the door, declared it an unlawful assembly, and pushed the crowd back, using some kind of deterrent in a series of “pop” sounds, at which point the protesters swarmed back out again, their eyes watering and coughing.

Outside, a standoff between troopers in riot gear and the protesters began, as some people chanted “shame” while dozens sang the National Anthem. One woman was also seen holding a pitchfork with an American flag attached. Troopers eventually responded with pepper spray and blue gas—which dispersed some of the crowd. By 10:30 p.m., the protest consisted of about 50 people.

“I’m here to support the constitutional rights of people and of Oregon business [owners.]* These people are unemployed and their lives are being ruined by this situation and most importantly by a government that seems to have taken totalitarian views,” one protester who would identify himself only by his first name, Duane,

The state government’s agenda dealt with pandemic relief and whether to allow restaurants and bars to serve cocktails to go, both touchy subjects for a crowd that calls restrictions enacted by local lawmakers and Gov. Kate Brown “tyranny.” The special session, which is the third to take place since March, would provide $800 million in relief to Oregon residents.

*Despite the chaotic protest, some protesters managed to continue selling pro-Trump merchandise at a tent set up outside the Capitol—including “Stop The Steal” sweaters. The tent, surrounded by Trump 2020 flags, also offered USA and Trump hats.

BLM protest the government murdering black people and these guys protest the government trying to save their asses.

What the fuck is wrong with so many white people?

What an idiot.
Because Congresspeople are our representatives that pass laws we must follow. If the advice from them and the scientists advocate herd immunity can be achieved faster through inoculation then they should set the example.
We have seen the hypocrisy of governors, mayors, even the Speaker of the House is doing the opposite of what they tell us we can’t do.
That’s obscene.
I don’t like the politics of AOC but applaud her for setting an example.
Omar is a disgrace for not doing that.

Red wants our politicians to set examples for best practices re the vaccine.

And he notes the hypocrisy of our elected leaders.

And I agree.

Politicians are the greatest source of pure hypocrisy.

But I also chuckle.

As I wonder if his targeting Rep. Omar and Speaker Pelosi had other motives, other than Red's aversion to hypocrisy, as we heard nothing from Red about Trump ignoring science and common sense and ignoring the bully pulpit he singularly and uniquely holds, albeit for just a few more weeks.

Trump could set an example for the nation, and should roll-up his sleeve, not to work, that's not his style, but to get vaccinated.

Although no doubt Red would laud Pres-elect Joe Biden for getting publicly vaccinated and setting a fine example for young and old, Dems and Repubs in helping to control this insidious virus.

I just heard on CNN from one of their covid-19 talking heads (Dr. Reiner) that about 86% of Dems plan to get vaccinated but only 56% of Repubs plan to do so.

Like masks, the vaccine is getting politicied.

Now long-term dead Repubs is a decent solution, but in the short-term the virus is not so selective in who it infects, and its going to take time to get all Dems vaccinated.  So Repubs put us in danger ignoring masks and social distancing, and promoting super-spreaders, and now there seems to be some resistance to the vaccine. Is there any insane conspiracy theory these dumb fucks won't adopt?

Maybe rather than promoting nutty conspiracy theories about voter and election fraud, and trying to hinder the legally elected incoming Biden administration, or plotting coups, Repubs could actualy do something for this country, and promote getting the vaccine,

Okay, well then let's consider that there are more Dems and independents than Pubes. Then consider that we need about 70%-75% of the population to get the vaccine in order to achieve herd immunity.

So, it looks like Democrats and Independents will save the nation, once again.

You know, if there were no Republicans, we wouldn't have to go about saving the country after every time these assholes get in the White House.

No worries,  Tommy Tuberville will stick with him.   The guy who said "it's not just opiods now, it's also heroin."

Check out Dana Milbank in the Post on the manifold wisdom of Tuberville.  Pretty amazing, in a Being There sorta way.
