Nothing wrong with being a refugee or asylum-seeker. I'd likely be doing the same thing if I were in their circumstances.
But, you have to be genuine.
Application should be made overseas, or refuge sought in UN camps.
"For a better life" is not always a genuine reason.

It was the Left in 2008 who opened the floodgates again, declaring the Right's policy "racist and too harsh."
50,000 came on 800 boats...like a taxi service from Indonesia.
Eventually the Left, overrun, drew a line in the sand, declared that anyone who arrived by boat after a certain date would never ever ever be settled in Australia.
Some of course would not listen, and arrived by boat...they were sent to re-opened detention centre on Nauru, and to detention centre on Manus Is PNG...housed in shipping containers....by the Left.
Some on Nauru took the money being offered by the Right after 2013 and returned home...others went to America in that swap deal for suspected terrorists or something PM Turnbull negotiated with Obama, that Trump attacked but still honoured.

Now there are no boats coming, no asylum seekers drowning at sea, maybe some still in detention hoping for the Left to gain power again.

As with the justice system, law-breakers make their choices and take their chances.

But, the punishments reflect the character of the country/states and those making the decisions.
Separating children and their parents, never to be reunited again...and torturing humans to death in executions are punishments that should be abolished.

He reduced the number of children who would have come into this country with their families and apparently you are okay with his using inhumane methods of doing so.

He did nothing to change the likelihood of "violent primitives" from being able to come here, while exposing tens of thousands of innocents to brutal attacks in the process of helping Putin. You seem to be okay with his encouraging that death and destruction. That includes the rape of children and the torture-killing of mass quantites of followers of other religions than his.
