---How deporting immigrants from the U.S. increases immigration to the U.S.---

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2018/08/22/u-s-deportation-policy-prompts-more-people-to-immigrate-to-the-u-s-heres-how-that-works/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.f735c9bccfcb

Huh, run that back again. Authors really hate the present immigration policy. Spreading the look inward self-guilt. If the US is such a terrible guilt ridden place governed by a madman just stay out and develop your own societies.

It's too bad those who want to keep immigrants out of the U.S. don't support assisting their countries of origin in social/economic reforms that would achieve the laudable goal of development you suggest.

Trump's FOX interview has people nervous:

It underscored why Trump’s legal team has become so determined to stop special counsel Bob Mueller from getting access, specifically demanding that questions related to potential obstruction of justice be off limits in any presidential interview. Trump’s lawyers say they’re afraid Mueller will lay “a perjury trap,” but the Fox hit shows Trump probably doesn’t need to be coaxed like some bear in the backwoods of Maine with doughnuts. He seems perfectly capable of entangling himself in potential legal and political jeopardy with little prompting.

“The headline bounty is proof that Trump is either too clueless or too reckless to understand the implications of his own words,” writes media critic Erik Wemple. “Whatever the case, his interviewer needs only to place topics before him, and let the tape roll.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/paloma/daily-202/2018/08/24/daily-202-fox-fallout-shows-why-trump-s-lawyers-don-t-want-mueller-to-get-an-interview/5b7f32791b326b3f31919d76/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.3f2d6e9d800f

So, in other words, Trump's lawyers don't want him to sit in an interview with Mueller because he is guilty as hell, and too stupid to not say something that makes that clear.

Got it.

So happy this man is our President.

I love the "michael cohen investigation" line.

Not "mueller investigation" or "russia investigation"

p.s. Not "roger cohen."

This really, really can't be good for the Trumps.

It's interesting that Trump's recent talk has been very mobster-like.  His recent assertion that, if he were impeached, the U.S. economy would crash, made me think of a movie mobster saying "Nice economy you've got here.  Be a shame if sometin' happened to it...."

It still makes me head spin that millions of Americans voted for a man who was so intimately associated with the lawyer Roy Cohn, a guy who was chief hatchet man for Sen. McCarthy and also represented Mafia bosses like Gotti, Tony Salerno and Carmine Galante.

---Anti-immigration, like pro-immigration, is a legitimate political position---

https://www.economist.com/open-future/2018/08/06/anti-immigration-like-pro-immigration-is-a-legitimate-political-position

I agree that the debate should not consist of partisans shouting at each other.  There are real issues of how many new citizens any nation can handle, and what the requirements of citizenship should be.  Though I am mostly pro-immigration, even I will acknowledge that we cannot remedy all the social/political problems of Central America by simply letting those countries export them.  We need to have rational conversations on how far our obligations go.  I liked the last paragraph:

Quote
Whatever your answers to these questions, it should at least be clear that the European debate about immigration is far from being a clear-cut battle between good and evil. It would be wrong to tar all anti-immigrationists as ‘fascists’, just as it would be wrong to depict all pro-immigrationists as committed to ‘cultural suicide’. Therefore, the debate about immigration should not be conducted as an uncompromising struggle about some non-negotiable moral imperative. It is a discussion between two legitimate political positions, which should be decided through standard democratic procedures.

Last two words:  democratic procedures.

YES, you are

Your money is in good shape - and you are safer than ever.  You are a citizen of a nation that is about to be built up stronger than it has been in recent memory.

You may even be part of the in the closet democrat wave that votes him in again - or withholds vote for the other side, never admitting it of course as you continue to spout on about how Trump is so bad for your people.

Your money is in good shape - and you are safer than ever.

Thanks to the previous administration for that.

You are a citizen of a nation that is about to be built up stronger than it has been in recent memory.

Are you referring here to the increase in the military budget that brings spending back to 2011 levels?  You must have a pretty short memory.

You may even be part of the in the closet democrat wave that votes him in again - or withholds vote for the other side, never admitting it of course as you continue to spout on about how Trump is so bad for your people.

It is a perfect encapsulation of your FOX-born delusions that you think anything remotely descriptive of the above actually exists.

There is a less than 15% chance trump runs in a general election again. The other 85% percent is divided between his being removed from office, him stroking out once his children are convicted (no later than Valentine’s Day, 2019), and finally that he is beaten in a primary by another candidate.

Once the republicans lose control of Congress, trump won’t have the support to cancel elections which is his only real chance to stay in power.

And naturally in his pithy breakdown of why we should all be so grateful for Trump kiidcarter8 says nothing, in his first post since Cohen, about the President's lawlessness, and his attempts to erode the democratic institutions of this country solely to prevent that lawlessness from being exposed.

As long as the GOP  treats immigration as a source of cheap labor while the democrats focus on cincreasing its voter base we will never make progress.
We need to vet immigrants for people we need to further our principles and ideals while adding to our multicultural society. This alsomeans ending chain migration.

Progress toward what?  What is the problem you are describing that needs us to move toward a solution?

increasing [the Democrats] voter base

Ah, there it is.  Thanks.

Immigrants commit fewer crimes and grow our economy, particularly at a time when otherwise the rate of the US population increase is slowing.

And cheap labor?  That's what you think it amounts to?

Forty-three percent of founders of the 2017 Fortune 500 are immigrants or the children of immigrants, according to the Center for American Entrepreneurship (CAE), a nonpartisan research and advocacy organization based in Great Falls, Virginia. First- and second-generation immigrant founders are even more common among the largest corporations: 48 percent for the top 60 companies and 57 percent for the top 35.

https://www.inc.com/leigh-buchanan/fortune-500-immigrant-founders.html

Thanks for reminding me that your real issue with Hispanic immigrants is that they vote for Democrats.  Its so easy with Trump to see the blatant bigotry and xenophobia driving GOP immigration proposals, that you forget that the people at the top of the party could give a shit about any of that.  For them, its about keeping power.

Our money is good. Even republicans are having a hard time sabotaging that. This administration is making us less safe than ever. And there is this,

http://www.vox.com/2018/8/23/17772990/trump-fox-and-friends-transcript

There isn’t a country in the world dumb enough to send us immigrants that would support the GOP.
