Who's biased against Lindsey Graham because of his sexual preference?

Not following that.

Why the assumption from one member that Kavanaugh's tears are crocodile?  He seems pretty stressed.   Judges are human,  so I can't really say anything against that.   I presume he's less volatile when sitting on the bench.  But his sniffling doesn't make Ford any less credible.

Bias? Based on sexual preference?

Wow - never thought I's see that here.

I don't care one way or another about Graham's sexual preference, though it has been widely specualted upon.

Nonetheless, Elba has a known practice of labeling people as partisan cocksuckers. Though its a practice I generally stay away from.

But its possible Graham might feel at home here.

So.......... a man comes forth today and says it was HE that attacked Ms Ford.

I was really hoping a man would come forth and say Kavanaugh sexually assaulted him.

That would really turn the heat up.
Technically, he has not really come forward. I propose the relevant DA subpoena the GOP staffers to learn his identity, charge him with attempted rape, and see if he still says he did it.

statute has passed

Not if it took place in Maryland, Kiid.

NOTE: Saw a comment (Yank's?) about a change in SoL laws in MD making it a year to report back then.

OTOH, know a Maryland case filed in 2013 for an incident in 1983. Can't swear they are close enough to the same, but it suggests that it might not be as simple as the year long for reporting, especially for a 15 year old.

Whew!  Lindsey with the gloves off:

Well let me put it this way to my Republican colleagues. If this becomes the new standard where you have an accusation for weeks, you drop it right before the hearing, you withhold from the committee a chance to do this in a professional timely fashion. When they say they’re going to do this is to delay the vote, get the Senate back in 2018 so they can fill the seat. I don’t want to publicly reward that kind of behavior. I think we’ve been very fair. And to my Republican colleagues. If you can ignore everything in this record an allegation that’s 35 years old, that’s uncertain in time, place, date and no corroboration. If that’s enough for you, God help us all as Republicans. Because this happens to us, but this never happens to them. Let me tell my democratic friends, if this is the new norm, you better watch out for your nominees.

In other words, Graham (a) doesn't want to consider why it happens to them (Gingrich, Hastert, Thomas, etc.) but not to Dems and (b) is threatening to invent stuff in the future.

Graham's moral outrage---guess he forgets when Kavanaugh was working with Starr.

his memo, Kavanaugh proceeded to advocate for what he described as “ ‘full and complete’ testimony” from Clinton and proposed a number of specific questions in order to “gather[] the full facts regarding the actions of [the] President.” Among the queries Kavanaugh suggested: Did Clinton have phone sex with Ms. Lewinsky 15 times? Did Clinton ejaculate in a White House sink? Did the president masturbate into a trash can in his secretary’s office?

B--B-Brett "I forget" Kavanaugh.

Quote
"One thing in particular we were sad about, one of our good — one of our good female friends, who we would admire and went to dances with had her name used on the yearbook page with the term alumnus. That yearbook reference was clumsily intended to show affection and that she was one of us. But in this circus, the media has interpreted the term was related to sex. It was not related to sex."

And with that, a ton of folks who were on the fence are no longer undecided.

If Ford went as nuts as Kavanaugh has today, they'd say she was just an overemotional female. And they'd be wrong, of course.

She was calm. Then again it's easy to be calm, when telling the truth.

Georgetown Prep released a statement yesterday, in response to the whole shebang:

https://www.gprep.org/about/mission/georgetown-prep-statement

Excerpt:
Quote
The image that has been presented on social media and in various news outlets depicts recklessness, illegal conduct, and lack of respect for persons. Worse, many blame these faults on institutional indifference.

But the temptations, and the failings, presented in these stories are not unique to Georgetown Prep. The problems and abuses of alcohol and drugs, sexual assault and misconduct, emotional and physical violence toward others are real; educators at every institution of primary, secondary, or higher learning in our nation face these problems every day. Serious educators in public, private, religious, and secular schools as well as parents and families have been wrestling with the collateral damage of an out-of-control culture for many decades. Jesuit schools, Georgetown Prep among them, have been working together since the 1970s to address these issues.

I do not think those words will be as comforting as Georgetown Prep would have liked them to be.

Agree with Utley about PBS.   Solid journalism and,  yes,  some facts are not flattering to the current resident of the Oval Office or his political party.   That's not PBS fault.

I think comparing personalities is not so relevant.   Obviously Kavanaugh is not presidential material.   He gets flustered when attacked.   We've seen what happens when thin-skinned people wind up as president.  Hillary is a much tougher person.   Whatever her ideological pluses or minuses,  she can take heat.  I doubt there's any hearing,  of any length,  where you'd hear her crying "you've destroyed my career... ruined my life..."  or other examples of Kavanaugh's melodramatics.
