Right on, Mr Speaker

https://twitter.com/newtgingrich/status/1046728702585901062

This is rich coming from the guy who invented “rule or ruin.”  And no better phrase for what the GOP is doing right now. How difficult would it be to nominate someone without a possible sexual assault (and confirmed related lies) on their record?

How quickly (and predictably) the GOP throws Merrick Garland in the memory hole.

Most of all, amazing how multiple credible allegations of sexual assault, the ABA calling for an investigation, Republican Senators calling for an investigation, all after Kavanaugh lies under oath, becomes a Democratic Party plot, a vast left wing conspiracy.

Be men. Take responsibility for the shitty things you do, GOP.

Another casual lie issued from Kavanaugh under oath:

Yeah, what is the Democrats’ problem?  Why wouldn’t anyone want someone who breezily lies under oath on the highest court in the land for the rest of his life?

The article lies

"Kavanaugh ssays he did not drink an unreasonable amount of alcohol"

In fact his testimony was self-inflicting - recall the "I dont know, what is enough to get to the % where youa re intoxicated?"

Kabvanaugh has NEVER stated that he didnt drink to excess.

"I liked beer. I still like beer.  Do you, Senator?"

Why do you think this question is relevant?  On what basis would Republicans have been able to discredit Garland?  Oh, you don't know, because they never met with him.

And Democrats are not discrediting Kavanaugh.  He is doing it to himself, with plenty of help from his Republican handlers.

LOL.

In fact his testimony was self-inflicting - recall the "I dont know, what is enough to get to the % where youa re intoxicated?"

How is that "self-inflicting?"  The answer to that question should have been "Yes, I've had enough beer to be intoxicated."

Kabvanaugh has NEVER stated that he didnt drink to excess.

No, he said he didn't know, that it depends on your definition of excess.  Which is of course ridiculous.

"I liked beer. I still like beer.  Do you, Senator?"

Liking beer automatically means you drink an unreasonable amount of it?  That isn't my experience.  Is it yours kiidcarter8?

And, of course, to the point of the above article, he lied about being a legacy student at Yale.

I dont think he did.

But go ahead and prove it.  Usually those things are on the college app.   Could be his grades WERE so impressive that granddad was never mentioned.

His grandfather attending and his attending does not make him a guy who got in on legacy.

I dont think he did.

LOL again.  It isn't a matter of opinion.  He said he had no connections to Yale.  His Grandfather went to yale.

But go ahead and prove it.

Proved.  Information is in the article.  Can you dispute that his grandfather went to Yale?

His grandfather attending and his attending does not make him a guy who got in on legacy.

He may have been able to get in on his own.  As the linked article states.  That doesn't mean he isn't legacy, and that doesn't mean that what Kavanaugh said about not having connections is a lie.  It is.

Like the lie he told the country when his nomination was first announced, it was unnecessary, issued casually, and verify-ably false.

You don't understand what is meant by "rule or ruin."   Its about damaging the country, the democratic institutions that make it representative of Americans.  As when you deny a democratically elected President his right ot nominate a Supreme Court judge because he is a Democrat.

And whether or not Kavanaugh can or should be fully held accountable for what happened to Dr. Ford, it is inescapable that his joining the SCOTUS will do damage to that institution.

Anyone who has paid any attention to US politics over the years and doesn't just jump in when they can waive their foam finger (that excludes you, kiidcarter8) knows that Gingrich is central to ruining US Democracy with bare-knuckle party-over-country politics.

This study and summary takes great pains to point at both sides (really?  Trump and Bernie Sanders share equal blame for pushing political rhetoric to even more divisive tones?) but even this can't help point the finger at Gingrich as the originator:

Quote from Lincoln Gingrich refers to (in the preceding twitter post, no less:)

“Your purpose, then, plainly stated, is that you will destroy the Government, unless you be allowed to construe and enforce the Constitution as you please, on all points in dispute between you and us. You will rule or ruin in all events.”

Hello, Merrick Garland.

Educate yourself a bit, kiidcarter8, or it just becomes more and more clear that you are out of your depth here.

This just in -

at YALE, grandparents do not count for legacy.

There is no space on the application for listing any relatives except mom, dad and siblings

A) You should actually read the results of your google search.  Info was posted that idrectly disputes this ("Did a parent, stepparent, or grandparent attend Yale?") and Kavanaugh was not applying in 2009.  (again, would help if you educated yourself first before posting here.)

B) Kavanaugh said he had no connections to Yale.  This is false.  His Grandfather went to Yale.
