And though the Senate is a close 52-46 - 2 (Independents).

51-47-2. That's why the battle over Collins was so hot, and Flake. Had either of them said no, then Manchin would probably have said no, too.

And your complaints about Obama are not totally off-base, but do remember that even when the Dems had more votes that the gerrymandering had a greater negative impact on them than on the GOP in the House. Further, the impact of vote suppression is far greater than I think most of us realize.

The Democratic Senate fucked over Obama on the ACA. Max Baucus slow walked the legislation which gave the Astro turf TEA Party the space to organize and then Joe Lieberman insisted the Public Option be taken out of the ACA to appease the GOP who never intended to help govern.

Then the fucking progressives got mad at Obama for not including the public option and “taught him a lesson” in the 2010 midterm. Thanks, Michael Moore.

Obama built the party and the party threw away the base (young people, peo0le of color) trying to appease the WWC voters everyone says the Dems need turning over the House and legislatures in a census year.

In other words, blame white people.

Almost hate to say it but black folks been hollering about this since forever. This is a cyclical backlash (some would say Blacklash) that follows incremental gains by minorities, read blacks.

This move by the GOP is a consolidation of power for white patriarchy by their donor class, demographic shifts be damned.

The authoritarian bent of this administration comes from Trumps inner circle of compromised Russian assets. Russia is using the same game plan across the globe.

Achtung, y’all...
Shit’s gonna get deep.

And once more, but with feeling.

Do you highlight your little Federalist Society pocket Constitution in green or yellow, Red?I'll ask you again. Is it your argument that a no vote by the Senate would have constituted a denial of due process? Let's see if you can answer a simple yes or no question.

Of course it would.
Under the standard of due process there is no crime that can be corroborated.
But as you certainly noticed the democrats moved away from the “ crime” to talk about his love of beer and then his “ unseemly” temperament in defending himself.
But they drew the ill- advised last second Hail Mary play by throwing due process in the gutter and no matter how they explain it now they have greatly diminished their mid term election outlook.
You have no clue what due process is.
It is you who is confused.
Due process in this instance is the process of the Senate to provide  its Constitutional duty to Advise and Consent on SCOTUS nominations. That process allows the Judiciary Committee to investigate nominees and then report its recommendations to the full Senate. In the course of that investigation the ranking democrat on the committee, Diane Feinstein, received a letter from Dr. Ford alleging a sexual assault of her by the nominee when both were teenagers. Dr. Ford asked that her information be kept secret. Senator Feinstein did nothing until the Committee was getting close to voting. ( She could have notified the Committee who could have conducted a secret investigation) As the process was winding down she sent the letter to the FBI and leaked its contents to the Washington Post.
She got the intended result: short circuiting the Senate process. Once the full committee learned of the letter it asked Dr. Ford and Justice Kavanaugh to come back for more testimony.
Which they did which led to a she said/he said appearance that in essence changed no votes . So the committee sent the nomination to the full Senate.
Howls by the democrats now centered on Kavanaugh’s teen age drinking and his temperament in defending himself. So at the suggestion of the GOP another delay was authorized and a request made to the FBI to investigate. Which turned up nothing to corroborate the original charge by Dr. Ford.
So here we are today waiting for the Senate to vote.
But it is clear that the democrats sole strategy is to disrupt due process to either defeat Kavanaugh or delay his appointment.
You have no clue what due process means. It becomes clearer with every post.

You also seem to have forgotten Garland. If nominees were entitled to fundamental fairness in the nomination process he would be on the Court today.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/democratic-senator-says-could-support-143517879.html

He said he could support Trump for reelection in 2020.

Senator Manchin has declared he no longer wishes to be Senator from West Virginia.

No shocks.

GOP likes rule. Democratic Party likes to govern.

Those are competing philosophies.

At the moment, we live under the rule of the GOP.

GOD, please, by all means, "bless America".

It sure needs it.

As was decreed by American voters at the 2016 election when they voted Trump as their President.

Women of color, and specifically black women, make the margin of difference for Democrats. The voting patterns of white women and white men mirror each other much more closely, and they tend to cast their ballots for Republicans. The gender gap in politics is really a color line.

That’s because white women benefit from patriarchy by trading on their whiteness to monopolize resources for mutual gain. In return they’re placed on a pedestal to be “cherished and revered,” as Speaker Paul D. Ryan has said about women, but all the while denied basic rights.

Both in the Republican primaries and in the general election, white voters’ attitudes about African Americans, Muslims and immigration were more closely associated with how they voted than were any strictly economic concerns. In fact, racial attitudes were the prism through which voters thought about economic outcomes — something we call “racialized economics.” For example, after Obama became president, attitudes toward blacks suddenly  b    ecame linked  with people’s views on the economy: the less favorable their view of blacks, the less favorable their view of the economy. Scholars who did extensive interviews with whites in  Youngstown, Ohio,  and  rural Louisiana  reported many racially loaded statements about economic circumstances. One Youngstown factory worker said people who received government assistance had “gold chains and a Cadillac, when I can barely afford a Cavalier.”
During the 2016 campaign, the most potent political sentiment held that “people like me” were not getting ahead because of “people like them.”

Once again, where did I lie?
