So....

if Obama is President what does he do about the Honduran caravan?
Process them the way we did asylum seekers before we elected people who use deliberate cruelty as a policy tool. Assign them a hearing date and release them to families or sponsors in the country.

Notice the focus on minutiae and avoidance of the issue at hand.

The minutae is the original post with no corroboration. There is no repression of any vote on the North Dakota reservation since 80 per cent of the tribe live and work off the reservation in order to make a living.

My point was in regard to NA voters in general,  you fucking imbecile.   Several states are erecting barriers to voting where Democrats are so predominant.  My example of Oglala Lakota county was not meant to be specifically analogous to Fort Berthoud. But the vote ratio shown is similar to that found in the other 8 reservations in SD,  and the 5 in ND.   (some overlap there,  as Standing Rock is in both states)  And in most of those reservations, closing polling stations and/or changing home address requirements deters people from voting.   In ND,  tribal ID cards that didn't show addresses were accepted in June,  but now they aren't.  So they could vote for a candidate in the primary,  but not in the general?  That's fucking ridiculous.  Either you get it,  or you don't.

Bullshit. If 100% all lived in the Rez they ALL couldn’t vote if it is conditioned on street addresses where everyone uses a P.O. Box.

If you can’t win, just cheat, huh?

In a letter to tribal leaders, the secretary of state’s office wrote that any voter without a residential address could contact their county’s 911 coordinator, describe the location of their home and, quickly and at no cost, be assigned an address that the coordinator could confirm in an official letter. The voter could then either use that letter to obtain new identification or present it at the polls alongside an ID card that would not have been sufficient on its own.

Still, the number of people affected, and the fact that the election is so soon, creates an enormous logistical challenge.

How are Native Americans responding?

Advocacy groups have been meeting with tribal leaders on all of North Dakota’s far-flung reservations, trying to figure out how to help voters get the addresses and identification they need through the process the state described. It’s a tall order.

One of the groups, Four Directions, came up with its own plan. In a letter to Secretary of State Al Jaeger, it suggested that tribal officials would be stationed at every voting location on the state’s reservations, ready to issue identification letters on tribal letterhead. They would use an established addressing system for rural areas to assign residential addresses on the spot.

Oliver and Barbara Semans, co-executive directors of Four Directions, wrote that they believed Mr. Jaeger had “no authority to prevent tribal governments from implementing this plan,” because “tribal governments have the inherent sovereignty to issue residential addresses to any tribal member who may lack such an address.” But they urged him to “publicly support” it.

Jaeger has,  so far,  declined.  Heitkamp won by 2900 votes in 2012.  A vote in ND is the most powerful vote in the United States this year,  in terms of determination of a key Senate race.

Or it reflects the low turnout and the cost to the county in maintaining precinct voting sites where very few people show up on Election Day

Oglala Lakota County, 2016 election:

Clinton: 86%

Trump   8%

Just in case there are any lingering doubts about how Indians vote....

Yeah.......

and abut what, 6% of the state....

but the number of supposed "disenfranchised" will quite likely be inconsequential.

I would imagine some homeless people in ND would like to vote as well.

You're an asshole.

Said the "moderator".

Heh

You should hear the immoderate response!

Why there is still some hope for this country, despite the obstructionism, denialism, and efforts to prevent minorities from voting:

Moderation is not called for when the GOP is busy trying to destroy the habitability of the planet.

And most of the GOP congressmen and women know that the problem is real and needs to be addressed. The White House knows it is real and is scared enough that it has no idea what to do and thinks we should just live as well as we can as long as we can.

And the military knows it and has known it quite a while, if not as long as those lying pigs in the oil industru have known it.

Nor is moderation called for when voter suppression and intimidation are in operation:

The county stopped the bus from taking them to vote.

And this is how one Georgia mayor felt about the non-partisan group that set up the bus:

Quote
“It is utterly reprehensible that your group maintains that all black voters should vote for a black candidate just because they are the same color as you,” Morris wrote on the since-deleted post.

“A man named Jim Jones once ran an organization like that,” he continued in an apparent reference to the religious cult leader who directed his followers to commit a mass murder-suicide in 1978.
