It won’t fly anywhere since it will take the tax money, give it to the elitists in government bureaucracies and economic growth will dip to Obama levels and worse.

Yikes!  Obama levels?  A disaster!  Is that anything like losing over 1% GDP growth per decade?  Wait...

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/23/climate/us-climate-report.html

You have it exactly backwards.  It isn't on the people who are suffering and not benefiting economically from these changes to "adapt to climate change," its on those peddling fossil fuels to adapt to a world where we reduce their use.

I don't want to "adapt" to a world where there is less economic opportunity and increased life-threatening natural disasters.  I want us to do something to prevent that from happening.

Something that should be common sense.  So naturally its lost on you.

Good to see you, BTW, REDSTATEWARD.  I was sure you were unable to post here, considering how you are the forum's knight for free and fair elections but have said nothing about North Carolina.  You are so concerned and post so often about theoretical and practically non-existent voter fraud, I thought for sure you would have something to say about the clear defrauding of over a thousand voters there.

I'm sure you are teeing up the post right now excoriating the winner there for hiring a known felon to defraud the election.

Speaking as someone who has formal training in geosciences and atmospheric physics that relates to climate change, I have given up on the denial brigade.  The sad fact is:  people don't know what they don't know and are very easily swayed by tiny slivers of information (usually way out of context) that have been spun into a lie.  Lots of money can buy any industry the shills they need to promote their lies.

And, though it's pointless to go into this, it ain't just CO2.  Methane has 10 to 20 times the potency, as a greenhouse gas, that CO2 does.  Rice farming, livestock, landfills, and well releases are all hugely ramping up the level of methane in the atmosphere.  Diesel soot is also a major player, because it deposit on ice fields and glaciers and hastens their melting by slightly darkening them and thus increasing their absorption of solar radiation.  There's also the fact that the ocean is losing its ability to absorb excess CO2 in the atmosphere, for various reasons.  Warming and acidification of seawater is destroying coral reefs, which are also a carbon sink we need.  Rainforest (especially bog forest, which stores 12 times the carbon per acre of regular rainforest) is being chopped down and burned off at horrifying speed in places like Indonesia where big multinationals are going all in on oil palm plantations.  Et fucking cetera.

Aha, a genius. [true...anyone who can understand all those science equations the teachers and lecturers write on the blackboards and who has formal training in geosciences and atmospheric physics is indeed a genius]. I have never met such a person before.

Trouble is...people have to eat, live, love, have transportation, and be warm in winter and cool in summer.
Cars, trucks, coaches, buses, trains, planes, ships all have to operate...every minute of every day.
Aircon, heating, lighting…affordable for average joe must be provided.
Affordable electricity for everyone must be provided...every minute of every day. See how long politicians last in office if the People are sitting up cold/hot and hungry in the dark...with no tv screens to watch.

Over-population … the world could do without it.

People aren’t stupid. Here or around the world. In case you missed it the French Government has postponed the Carbon Tax- it’s likely to be dumped altogether.  France is among a growing number of European countries led by  leftist leaders whose goal is to smother their citizens with a climate change agenda as part of globalism. Trouble is that means, lots of taxes, shrinking standards of living, and no real freedom.
Et fucking et centers, indeed

From George H. W. Bush's inaugural address on January 20, 1989:

"I have spoken of a thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Nation, doing good. We will work hand in hand, encouraging, sometimes leading, sometimes being led, rewarding. We will work on this in the White House, in the Cabinet agencies. I will go to the people and the programs that are the brighter points of light, and I will ask every member of my government to become involved. The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment, and a patriotism that finds its expression in taking part and pitching in."

Redd still isn't discussing the voter fraud in NC 9.

The corruption and the efforts to insist that just because he paid people to lie to voters is no reason to exclude him, but let's just call him the winner already are... almost too much for even the GOP!

Ah yes...climate change.

"Climate change/global warming is the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind" - no1 radio host.

I know I always take my science guidance from the radio hosts ahead of the thousands of scientists who say otherwise.

You remain a fool.

You dispute the fact that the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.04%?
You dispute the fact that 97% of that CO2 occurs naturally?
You dispute the fact that CO2 is the source of all plant and tree life?

No.

I dispute that your facts are relevant.

Your recitation of what you think to be meaningful is like explaining that a claim that half a part per million of lead in the blood stream cannot be dangerous.

Or perhaps you would like to argue that arsenic and mercury are both natural, so how can they have a bad effect?!

I repeat: you are a fool for taking your science conclusions from a radio host rather than from science.

He has a brilliant mind...reads 'everything', interviews expert scientists who say that man-mad climate change/global warming is basically rubbish/a hoax.

Yes.

He only interviews the ones who say it is a hoax. Roughly 3% of the people in the field, all well paid by the deniers who make their money from fossil fuels.

I have sad news for you, Bambi.

Having a brilliant mind and reading "everything" does not give one an understanding of a field. Nor is it even protection from confirmation bias.

But also... that you think somebody has a brilliant mind is not actually evidence that they do.

P.S. Remember your advice to the 15 year old girl you disparaged? DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

How did the election in Colorado go to shut down the fossil fuel industry there?

Lol.  Is that how that ballot initiative was worded?

People aren’t stupid.

Of course they can be.  Look at who is our current "President."

Hiding behind vote results is like justifying voter suppression with polling.  You are hiding from a discussion of policy because you know full well that in a discussion based on actually thinking (you know, coming up with an opinion of your own instead of regurgitating talking points and poll results) you would have nothing to say.

"Adapt to climate change..." meaning what?  Move to colder climates, build on the high ground, make your house out of concrete to protect from fires in the dry season, with some scrubbers in the ventilators that filter out the carbon?  And for anyone who can't afford to "adapt" to the dystopian future you envision?  Sucks to be them.

That isn't an argument that makes any sense.  So..."look at what happened in Colorado."

Of course dealing with climate change is going to take leaders who have backbone, who put the health and well-being of their constituents over politics.  Every GOP administration thus far has been proof of what happens when those elements are lacking in leadership.

My post was to say global warming is real.   If RSW or Bambu could point out the passages where I said capitalism couldn't be fixed or where I said we must all sit freezing in the dark,  go ahead.   What I do know is that there will be massive suffering if we don't get out in front of the problem.  Fossil fuels do generate an era of cheap energy and fast prosperity, but they cannot maintain that prosperity.  If the innovation hubs of capitalism find long-term energy solutions, more power to them.

If,  as Red direly warns,  people are "smothered" by an alternative energy agenda,  it won't be nearly as smothering as a continued agenda of rainforest clearance,  ocean acidification, and massive carbon dumping into our air.

If people feel deprived because they can't eat meat due to its high methane footprint,  I guarantee they'll really feel bummed about not eating at all due to massive losses of arable land,  fishery die-offs,  red tides (toxic algal blooms) and tropic soil depletion.   Nor will they be thrilled by the inundation of their major coastal cities,  seawater contamination of fresh water supplies (and yet more arable land), heatwaves that cause massive brownouts (and resulting deaths), relentless superstorms and tsunamis,  and wildfires that further speed up the whole warming cycle by quick and massive carbon dumps.

The science isn't political,  and the message it brings isn't partisan.  We need to pay attention and work together in order to survive and reap the economic benefits of leading the problem solvers (rather than the naysayers and deniers).

As Needs A points out,  it's hardly a humane solution for the wealthy to hunker down in sealed biospheres while everyone else suffers and perishes.

The best of a bad lot of trickle downers. Destroyed the housing market until his son did worse, destroying the entire economy. Nice job keeping Hussain in Iraq. At least he wasn't Donald Trump.

With apologies to the late and brilliant Freddie Mercury....

Red keeps a Moet Chandon in his sealed biosphere,
"Let them eat cake, " he says,  while the Earth begins to sear,
Some simple remedies
For overpopulous migrant enemies,
At anytime an invitation
That can't be declined

Caviar and cigarettes
Well versed in etiquette
Extraordinarily nice....

His robot's a Killer Queen
It's brain made of neural gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to defend the bunker
While you hunker

Thinks he has paid the price
For insatiable carbon appetite
Wanna try (that again)?

To avoid complications he laid in lots of freeze dried food,
In Trump's 4th Reich  the oil companies were never sued,
The babies born in China
Just picked the wrong vagina
To emerge from and
Incidentally all starved

His robot's a Killer Queen (etc)....

Drop of a hat he's as willing as
Playful as a pussy cat
Then momentarily out of protein
Generator temporarily out of gas
Will absolutely drive him wild, wild
He's all out to eat you...

(refrain)

I find it highly amusing that the leading state for suppressing votes under the guise of "preventing fraud" without any evidence of fraud js experiencing:

A. Actual evidence of voter fraud,
B. Committed by a Republican,
C. Of the sort voter id laws cannot prevent, that
D. It will not legislate additional barriers to voting to stop in the future.
