"Supposedly..."  Turn away from FOX once in a while, and read the news.  The Senate unanimouslypassed a continuing resolution with no wall funding.  The House would have passed it as well, if Trump supported it.  It is Trump who shut this down.

Schumer warned Trump a CR with wall funding wouldn't pass.  Now, it isn't going to pass.  Nothing has changed from last week when Trump said he would be "proud" to own this.

What did happen is that he was universally panned by his own party for getting played by Chuck, so now predictably he will pretend it never happened, and just as predictably his stout defenders will follow his lead, no matter the realities.

I could point to 20 stories in the press where he was described as the adult in the room, long before his resignation.  What can you point to?

I do not have to prove that anyone, Republican or Democrat, were "always with Mattis's views."  I haven't made that argument.
 Whatever criticism he may have come under for providing support for Trump's political stunt at the border, this does not mean that the concerns for his leaving, and the concerns for the reasons he is leaving, are not legitimate.

You seek to delegitimize those concerns only because you support Trump in anything and everything he does, no matter the damage to the country.  An idiot, or not a patriot.

Mattis had been scheduled to testify before the House Armed Services Committee this week, but Trump's transition team canceled his appearance.

Democrats said they supported Mattis, but the cancellation set a dangerous precedent for Trump to sidestep Congress.

Normally, lawmakers are able to question legislation in committee hearings before bills are brought up for votes in the full House.

'Before this president is even in office, at the very first opportunity, he is choosing to completely ignore us for no reason,' said Representative Adam Smith, the top Democrat on the armed services panel.

Democrats also said they worried that the waiver does not exempt Mattis from the Uniform Code of Military Justice, to which retired officers are subject for life.

In theory, he could be court-martialed by Trump, as the commander in chief.
