https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-declaring-national-emergency-secure-wall-funding-sources/story?id=60164759

And if you don't like his "emergency" to get his funding, maybe you'll like this threat, better:
https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/04/politics/shutdown-donald-trump-nancy-pelosi/index.html

He says he could keep the shutdown going for months or years.

He could not, in fact, keep it going for years. Even Mitch McConnell cannot keep the Senate from overriding both McConnell's efforts to keep the bill from being voted on and the presidential veto that would follow.

But that doesn't mean that Trump doesn't believe he could. Were it not for the cost to the country, I would love to see him try.

President Trump:

Keeping America safer!

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/04/politics/shutdown-tsa-screening/index.html

100s of TSA (unpaid) employees have called in sick. More to come.

I don't do the crystal ball thing too often,  but a few days ago I was saying to the spouse,
"wait till the ATC and TSA workers start calling in sick..."   Just TSA so far,  but I expect other staff will start to show attrition soon.   If it reaches the point where flights are grounded,  then Congress will move pretty fast.

Mueller has nothing...

Yet a Federal Judge just extended his grand jury by max possible, 6 months, before it’s authorization expired today.

So that’s something...

Of course.  President Trump is just continuing the brilliance of President Obama.

No changes at all.

Yes he has made changes.  As I've said several times now, he has blown up the deficit, spent $1.5 Trillion on tax cuts for the rich, cut environmental and food regulations leading to poorer health outcomes, started Trade Wars that cost jobs, cut consumer protections...

All for an economy that barely keeps up with the one that did none of those things.

You and REDSTATEWARD think that there is some inherent value in Trump's enacting the conservative economic dogma of cutting regulations and tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.  There is not.  Exactly the opposite, in fact,  if it adds little to nothing to the economy while making peoples lives worse, and hurting our ability to reduce the negative effects of the next recession.

King of Petulance.

I 'love' his line about the national emergency declaration to allow him to use money allocated to the military to build the wall:

"I can do it if I want."

He sounds like a kid trying to get his mommy to buy him candy in the checkout lane at the grocery store or who's been told not to break a certain rule.

"I can do it, if I want."

I suspect the Supreme Court may see it differently, Kavanaugh or no Kavanaugh.

OMG!

She said “Impeach that mothefucker” and that will send the tut titters staggering toward the nearest fainting couch...

Meanwhile,

The legislation, known as HR 1: The For the People Act, would make it easier to vote, crack down on gerrymandering, and reduce the influence of big money in congressional races. It would also institute new ethics rules, including one requiring sitting presidents and presidential candidates to release their tax returns.

She should have said, "Impeach the guy who said he was like a motherfucker, when he admitted to committing sexual assault."

Clearly.

Or "Impeach the guy who calls places "shithole countries.""

That way, she is only quoting him. (Nobody seems to care when Trump swears.)

Quote
Reporter: Do you have in mind a safety net for [federal workers] who need their checks?

Trump: The safety net is going to be having a strong border because we're going to be safe

Nor do they care when he illustrated both ignorance and insensitivity at the same time.

What Mueller has and what Congress will soon have through its own inquiry is the operational parameters and the content of the channels by which Russia instructs the misadministration and assets like Devin Nunez and Mitch McConnell on the quos the Russians received as their reward for helping republicans so much in 2016.

Google trump Belarus or trump Montenegro and you will see the kind of events I am talking about.

Mueller’s grand jury was just given 6 more months.

Lardhead should resign and flee while he still has the chance. Pence should run along with him.

Trump said he'd shut down the government for years,  if necessary.  Could that include the executive branch?   That would be great,  thanks.   Two years should be about right.

Never mind the foul language, media magnifiers of trivial off duty doings,  what's a devout Muslim doing in a bar?   You don't drink,  so you can't use the standard bar excuse for loose talk.

So isn't calling a fake national emergency and mobilizing the military a dress rehearsal for fascism?

Trump already did this once with the border stunt before the mid-term election.   Now threatening a larger scale military usage to build an unfunded wall.  Troubling precedents...

Even threatening to shut down the gov't for years has a sinister edge to it . . .

Yep.   Kelly's departure means little Benito is running loose in his diapers,  breaking government vases and pulling the cats tail.

As for David Perdue criticizing Romney for unkind words about Trump,  and stressing the importance of respecting the office, this is what Perdue said a couple years ago...
