ACLU

Hi Tony –

President Trump just tried on national TV to make a case for his border wall – but it failed. When he says "border security," he means separating and jailing families and children, firing tear gas at asylum seekers, and above all – that multi-billion dollar wall. Trump manufactured a humanitarian crisis at the border, and now he's shutting down the government until he gets his wall.

Our senators have the power to fight back by refusing to bend to the president's will. It's up to us to raise our voices to make loud and clear what we, the people, want: No wall and no raise for Homeland Security to jail and terrorize immigrants.

Send a message to your senators right now: We won't allow our taxpayer dollars to fund the wall and give DHS a raise.

Let's be clear: The so-called border crisis is a product of Trump's imagination and the cruelty of his DHS. Border apprehensions are at some of the lowest levels in decades. Most of the people coming to our southwest border are families and children seeking asylum.

Instead of seeking billions more of our money for a border wall, the Trump administration should use existing resources to treat arriving migrants humanely and with due process. Seeking asylum is a legal right, and one that we will continue to fight to protect.

This is urgent: Write to your senators and demand they take a stand against Trump's border wall and against giving billions more to DHS.

We must reopen the government by voting to pass the spending bills just passed in the House – bills that don't give Trump his wall or DHS a raise. We shouldn't reward an agency that has torn apart so many lives.

If enough of us write to our senators to demand immediate action, we can pressure them to stand firm against Trump and bring this shutdown to its rightful end – without providing a penny for the border wall.

En la lucha,

Lorella Praeli
ACLU Deputy Political Director

-------------

We do not need a wall with Canada, and we do not need a wall with Mexico.

We can work together with our good Christian neighbors, Canada and Mexico, to battle crime together, and to stop terrorism together, etc, etc, etc.

We can achieve more by working together with our neighbors, instead of building walls.

We won two world wars, and the Cold War, without building any walls, and we do not need a wall now.

And we have our Statue of Liberty welcoming the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses.

NO WALL!

Salute,

Tony V.

Luee, weren’t you just arguing that we should shutter all the airports? I think you’ve become a bit confused.

Since neither trump nor Santorum have won an election in the past decade, I guess it’s good all the decompensating old men are getting on the same page. Solidarity in the dotard class. Kid is on board, ready to sling whole spoonfuls of his mushy peas.

Gee, I must've been dreaming when I saw Trump win the 2016 federal election and become President.

Trump’s con game is unraveling.

Trump opened by going right to those folks he asked, “What the hell do you have to lose?” I was surprised he didn’t mention criminal justice reform and black unemployment since they have become part of his greatest hits list.

Criminal records? He ran the fear mongering script about the thousands of violent crimes committed by “illegals” but never mentioned the couple million traffic tickets.

He speaks of a humanitarian “Crisis of heart and soul” at the southern border while dripping crocodile tears for the human suffering his policies have enhanced. Anecdotes about Human smugglers, rapists, and drug gangs guaranteed to scare the shit out of his base of angry fearful white people.

Now he tries to reassure his base by promising to “Keep America safer than ever before” which is a continuation of his “the country is a disgrace” but because of him and his booming economy the country is so great all these illegals want to come here, take your job, steal your car and rape your daughters.

He’s struggling with his delivery because though he keeps dropping tried and true rally applause lines, doing so to a camera in an empty setting isn’t giving him the jolt he craves... his presentation is filled with vacuous bullshit about money for what he calls  “humanitarian assistance” but really means easier detentions and deportations.

He gave up on the concrete wall for a bullshit steel barrier, then he trotted out the wall will pay for itself. Then the piece de resistance “Mexico will pay indirectly for wall.” The “Big beautiful Wall” is now “give me something I can call a wall.”

Now he is blaming all the ills in American history on the Democrats. Democrats are un-American have refused to acknowledge the crisis so shutdown is because Dems won’t fund border security but wealthy Democrats build walls around their homes.

Wrapping up with a reminder of the horrors brown people from South of the Border are wreaking on the poor defenseless hard working MAGA hat devotees.
Back to the greatest hits with a litany of murders by illegal aliens immigration.
Here’s one line verbatim, “Rape, murdered, and beaten to death.”

“So sad, so terrible.”

Then the patriotic word salad… “American blood, Choice between right and wrong, Sacred duty, Swore to protect our country so help me god.”

Same old set list.

Same old lies…

Stick a fork in him… he’s done.

The American people gave him a mandate to govern.
He won the election fairly and squarely, a sea of red from north to south and east to west....promising to build a border wall.
He should be allowed to build the wall.

Just saw on my tv illegals simply climbing over a flimsy barricade on the southern border and landing on American soil.
A person every few seconds entering illegally.

Wanna blame someone for the govt shutdown...blame the Democrats...they're the ones blocking supply.

Gotta love the way leftists in America seem to support their porous borders and the entry of anyone and everyone who chooses to waltz in over them.

When Trump says 'border security'...he means just that...security at the border;

Border Security: Australia's Front Line
Australian television program

Follow Australian Customs and Border Protection officers as they attempt to enforce the country's various quarantine, customs, immigration and finance laws.

Opinions | Trump won the night. Schumer and Pelosi lost.

President Trump did something Tuesday night (Wednesday AEST) that he has rarely done since taking office: He used the presidential bully pulpit to reach beyond his hardcore base of supporters to make his case to the American people as a whole.

Speaking from the Oval Office for the first time during his presidency, Trump embraced our country’s tradition as a nation of immigrants, declaring “America proudly welcomes millions of lawful immigrants who enrich our society and contribute to our nation.” He then offered a cogent explanation why he believes we face what he called “a humanitarian crisis — a crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul” along our southern border.

He pointed out the human cost of our broken system to illegal migrants themselves, expressing compassion for the “children [who] are used as human pawns by vicious coyotes and ruthless gangs” and the “women [who] are sexually assaulted on the dangerous trek up through Mexico.”

He shared heartbreaking stories of Americans killed by criminal aliens who had no right to be here — including a police officer in California who was murdered, a 16-year-old girl who was brutally stabbed in Maryland, and an Air Force veteran who was raped and beaten to death.

You’d be denied entry, Bambu. You’re on the list for immoral acts perpetrated on livestock.

It’s time to start investigating the payoffs and kickbacks that drive Individual 1’s immoral and incompetent immigration policy now that it’s settled once and for all that their isn’t going to be any wall.

Individual 1 doesn’t want to reduce undocumented immigrants. If he did there would be no one left at “his” properties to burn his steaks or carry his balls.

The American people gave him a mandate to govern.
He won the election fairly and squarely, a sea of red from north to south and east to west....promising to build a border wall.
He should be allowed to build the wall.

This has been explained to you multiple times, Bambi, and you keep missing it:

There is more than one definition of mandate and when it comes to elections in the United States, one in which the winning party got fewer votes than the losing party is not considered a mandate.

https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/mandate

"When a politician wins an election by a wide margin, that's a mandate to implement her ideas."

There are other definitions that involve merely winning, but that is not what it means for either a president or a Congress - a narrow win is not a mandate.

But even if it were, the president is not a monarch. He (or she, we hope, someday) cannot rule by fiat - and if the people still wanted a wall built (if they ever did), then they would not have voted for the Democratic Party's members by such a substantial margin! Why... you might even call it a mandate to not build a wall!

Nearly 10,000,000 more voters voted for Democratic House candidates than for GOP House candidate. 53.4% of the votes - the highest percentage in more than 30 years. 59% of the Senate votes went to Democratic Party candidates, too. That's the highest percentage in my lifetime (more than 60 years).

Mandate?

Hah!

Yeah, those legal immigrants...

Trump's Border Patrol's refusal to even permit applications for asylum is a violation of our laws, our treaties, and his claim that we "proudly welcome" anybody. He doesn't proudly welcome them unless they are white or rich. Preferably both.

This means that it cannot return or expel “a refugee in any manner whatsoever to the frontiers of territories where his life or freedom would be threatened on account of his race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.”

It has not stopped him.

You've been lied to. And you continue to swallow his bs about this even while you pay attention to his mealy-mouthed approach to Australia. You only doubt him when it suits your own needs.
