Do you get paid by Fox, Kid?  "Trump lied" is probably the best approach.

You're welcome to look at his campaign plan as to how he would get Mexico to pay for the wall.

But it's more than 280 characters.

And ZERO money from Mexico.

All money from Mexico goes into that pool from which THIS money comes.  I think they cal it the US Treasury.

Has money from Mexico increased or decreased under Trump?  What is foreseen through 2020?  2024?
What money do you think is coming into the US treasury from Mexico?

Good news!

Not everybody in Australia is as heartless and thoughtless as Bambi:

There are already systems in place so that asylum-seekers on Manus Island PNG and Nauru [Pacific Island] who are genuinely in need of urgent medical  treatment [doctors are already at these "offshore processing centres" and do assessments]...are transferred to Australia or another country for treatment.

Just the Left playing political games with border security, as usual.

Note the placards/signs in the photo:

"Say YES to refugees".
Australia's annual intake of refugees from UNHCR camps is already the largest per capita in the world.

"FREE THE ……….. [can't read the rest of it].
STOP DETENTION"

Asylum seekers were told...warned by then Leftist Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in 2011 and backed up by Leftist Prime Minister Julia Gillard in 2012 that if they paid people-smugglers and tried to get to Australia that way they would never be resettled in Australia. Rudd and Gillard finally drew a line in the sand, having allowed 50,000 asylum-seekers in 800 boats to land on Australia's shores.[with about 1000+ people dying at sea as the people-smuggling boats sank]
The final straw was vision of a people-smuggling boat being torn apart on the rocks at Christmas Island, with babies/children/women screaming as they perished.
Rudd and Gillard had to re-open the former detention/processing centre on Nauru, and open a new one on Manus Island PNG to cope with the flood of boats and their paying-large-sums-of-money asylum-seeking passengers.

"Stop deportations"
Whatever that means.
People who've committed very serious crimes [usually more than one] are being deported back from whence they came.
Some asylum-seekers are taking the thousands of Australian dollars on offer by the govt to return to their countries of origin and are doing so.

a)  Its 3 bil total - for wall and other border security measures, which is what the 5.7 was for.

"other border security measures" are not in dispute.  Trump gets $1.375 Billion for barriers.  Less than the $1.8 Billion the senate offered him previously for barriers.

And the $5.7 Billion was for money that Trump could put toward his WALL.  Not for "other border security measures."  You may have missed it, but there was a government shutdown that went on for over a month over this issue.  It wasn't that long ago.

b)  the Senate bill that contained the 1.8 didn't designate one penny specifically for a wall (which is why Pelosi loved it)

Correct.  The $1.8 Billion was for barriers of the same type designated in this latest compromise, not Wall.  Only now Trump gets less of them.

Some great negotiating there.

Even by Trump's dumb definition of winning...

Yes

3 bil is less than 5.7 bil

Big "loss", even if the funding helps boost his border security profile.

Not so bad for 2 years work, actually.

Yes

3 bil is less than 5.7

And $1.375 Billion is even less than that!

Big "loss", even if the funding helps boost his border security profile.

It doesn't even do that.  There have been spending increases on border security during every administration since Reagan.  Trump's will probably end up being less than those, in real dollars.

Not so bad for 2 years work, actually.

Trump's "work" has amounted to his getting less money now than the Senate's opening bid.  If only we gave him another 2 years!

Yes

3 bil is less than 5.7

And $1.375 Billion is even less than that!

And to be clear, the amount less that Trump is getting toward a wall than he asked for is $5.7 Billion.

5.7 Billion minus ZERO is 5.7 Billion.

Dems blinked

LOL!

To clarify; part of what makes the politics in the US so dysfunctional right now is the notion that when the government does something, one side wins and one side loses.  McConnell is the high wizard of this bad thinking. Determined for 6 years to not give Obama any “wins” too many problems in this country went unaddressed.

The reality is, the kind of deal that is taking shape at the border is what government is supposed to look like.  No one “blinked”  and no one got everything they wanted.  Trump doesn’t like the deal, FOX doesn’t like the deal, but it’s looking more like he will accept it in the end because it’s what he can get.

All that said…$5.7 Billion for a Wall vs. $0 Billion for a Wall is hard to characterize as anything but a loss.  And when one side opens with $1.8 Billion for barriers and you end up getting $1.375 Billion, that is a loss (and bad negotiating) by any definition.

US prepares to start building portion of Texas border wall

4/02/2019

HOUSTON — The U.S. government is preparing to begin construction of more border walls and fencing in South Texas' Rio Grande Valley, likely on federally owned land set aside as wildlife refuge property.

Heavy construction equipment was expected to arrive starting Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said. A photo posted by the nonprofit National Butterfly Center shows an excavator parked next to its property.

Congress last March approved more than $600 million for 33 miles (53 kilometers) of new barriers in the Rio Grande Valley. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has pushed ahead with building what's already funded.

According to designs it released in September , CBP intends to build 25 miles (40 kilometers) of concrete walls to the height of the existing flood-control levee in Hidalgo County next to the Rio Grande, the river that forms the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas. On top of the concrete walls, CBP will install 18-foot (5.5-meter) steel posts and clear a 150-foot (45-meter) enforcement zone in front.

Maps released by CBP show construction would cut through the butterfly center, a nearby state park, and a century-old Catholic chapel next to the river.

#####

If only there weren't a need for physical barriers to stop people from entering illegally.
Obviously people will keep walking in over the border until met with a 'brick wall' that stops them from doing so.

It's not the govt's fault that a wall/fence needs building.
