Good news!
Not everybody in Australia is as heartless and thoughtless as Bambi:
There are already systems in place so that asylum-seekers on Manus Island PNG and Nauru [Pacific Island] who are genuinely in need of urgent medical treatment [doctors are already at these "offshore processing centres" and do assessments]...are transferred to Australia or another country for treatment.
Just the Left playing political games with border security, as usual.
Note the placards/signs in the photo:
"Say YES to refugees". Australia's annual intake of refugees from UNHCR camps is already the largest per capita in the world.
"FREE THE ……….. [can't read the rest of it].
STOP DETENTION"Asylum seekers were told...
warned by then Leftist Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in 2011 and backed up by
Leftist Prime Minister Julia Gillard in 2012 that if they paid people-smugglers and tried to get to Australia that way they would never be resettled in Australia. Rudd and Gillard finally drew a line in the sand, having allowed 50,000 asylum-seekers in 800 boats to land on Australia's shores.[with about 1000+ people dying at sea as the people-smuggling boats sank]
The final straw was vision of a people-smuggling boat being torn apart on the rocks at Christmas Island, with babies/children/women screaming as they perished.
Rudd and Gillard had to re-open the former detention/processing centre on Nauru, and open a new one on Manus Island PNG to cope with the flood of boats and their paying-large-sums-of-money asylum-seeking passengers.
"Stop deportations"Whatever that means.
People who've committed very serious crimes [usually more than one] are being deported back from whence they came.
Some asylum-seekers are taking the thousands of Australian dollars on offer by the govt to return to their countries of origin and are doing so.
