So a thought experiment that we pray stays only a thought experiment...

What happens if one of the 737 Max 8's the US is refusing to ground crashes, despite almost every other country taking that precautionary measure, and at least two pilots on the record on questioning their safety?

Is there a real conversation about the role Boeing lobbying, the personal call to the "President" and the $1 Million they gave toward his inauguration played in that decision?  Or would the Trump Administration lie and say that the accident could not be prevented?

This latest crash most likely would have been avoided if not for the government shutdown closing the FAA for five weeks...

Happy Sentencing Day, folks

What are you all predicting?

I'm predicting that any sentence short of the max 10 years will be heralded as a victory by the Trumpists.

True or not (and I have no reason to question this) if they know what is wrong, this only supports the question.  Why aren't we grounding the planes until the software patch is available?

Y'know, even if the entire board and management of Boeing consisted of sociopaths, you would think they'd realize that this refusal to ground the jets hurts their business profile.

Who can ground the planes?
The FAA, Boeing, and the individual airlines that use them.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration reiterated Tuesday that the aircraft is safe, and no American operator has grounded the plane. “Our review shows no systemic performance issues and provides no basis to order grounding the aircraft,” the agency said. U.S. carriers, sticking by the FAA guidance, have said they have no plans to ground flights.

You really are literacy challenged.  Obviously meant Boeing should take the initiative.  Just as automakers recall vehicles with safety issues.  As to your justifying the FAA not acting....on what planet is two mass fatality crashes a few months apart, for one newer model, not a red flag?  The burden of making a reasonable argument for refusing to do what regulatory agencies around the world have done is on you.  I won't hold my breath.

May governs as effectively as Individual 1.

Send them to Elba together to live out their sentences.

If you're talking about Theresa May...she's trying to have Britain leave the EU with the least disruption possible.
Now, she should just take Britain out of the EU with no deal and let The People suffer the consequences.

After all, it isn't like you or anybody you care about would be suffering.

Asshole.

They don't want the deal she's negotiated...she's tried her best, the EU won't budge.
The People obviously don't want a deal.
So be it.
If I were her, I wouldn't be bothered getting lines on my face worrying about them anymore.
They want a hard border with Ireland, then so be it.

Yes, like I said. We know you don't give a damn about anybody but yourself and those you love - and those to a limited extent.

You don't care if children suffer or if the people who do support her plan are clobbered as surely as those who oppose it. You wouldn't lose a jot of sleep over others' misfortune, so long as you are not inconvenienced by higher electricity bills, etc.

It's all about you. Left up to you, this site you post on so happily would not exist and none of the spambots would get blocked or their posts deleted.

It's a good thing for all of us that you don't run things.

You remain a selfish asshole.

There is a real conversation. Nobody in the Trump administration is having it. I wonder if the Senate committee looking into it will have it.

And there is no question about whether or not the administration would lie. We all know they would, including their supporters - but their supporters would lie about that belief, too.

Why can't Boeing take the lead and recall its own fleet of max-8s for a fix?  I see nothing good for the company by going along with an obviously corrupted administration.
